About the Institution
Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences (ILBS), New Delhi, is an autonomous deemed-to-be university established in 2009 by the Government of NCT Delhi and inaugurated in January 2010. ILBS holds deemed university status under the University Grants Commission (UGC) Act and is regulated by the National Medical Commission (NMC). It is India’s first mono-super-specialty hospital and academic institution dedicated exclusively to liver and biliary diseases.
NIRF Medical 2025 ranks ILBS at 28 (score: 59.22), improving from rank 34 in 2024. As per Collegedunia Ranking 2026, ILBS is ranked 347 out of 527 Medical institutions nationally and 11th in New Delhi.
The ILBS campus is located at D-1, Vasant Kunj, New Delhi. The attached hospital has 300+ operational beds (549 sanctioned), including 74 ICU beds and four advanced modular operation theatres. ILBS has performed over 900 liver transplants, making it one of the highest-volume dedicated liver transplant centres in India.

- DM (3 years) -- Hepatology; Organ Transplant Anaesthesia and Critical Care; Paediatric Hepatology. Total fees: INR 3,30,000 per programme.
- M.Ch (3 years) -- Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Surgery. Total fees: INR 2,10,000.
- DNB (3 years) -- Nephrology. Total fees: INR 95,000.
- M.Sc Nursing (2 years). Total fees: INR 70,000.
- Ph.D (minimum 3 years) -- Biomedical Sciences, Clinical Nutrition, Epidemiology, Hepatology, Molecular Medicine, Nursing. Total fees: INR 70,000 - INR 2,60,000 (varies by discipline).
