DU B.Ed Entrance Exam 2024 Eligibility Criteria

For the DU B.Ed Entrance Exam 2024, general category candidates must have at least 50% marks in a Bachelor's Degree or Master's degree in Science, Social Science, Humanities, or Commerce. Candidates with at least 55% marks in Bachelor in Engineering or Technology with specialization in Science and Mathematics, or any other equivalent degree, are also eligible.

Eligibility Mark Relaxation

Marks relaxations for the Delhi University B.Ed entrance exam are given to the following categories:

Note:

  • The specific age criteria for admission to the B.Ed program is not less than 21 years of age.
  • Foreign candidates applying for B.Ed courses at the University of Delhi must show pass certificates of their last qualifying exam from any Indian universities situated abroad. Foreign candidates are selected on the basis of merit and the number of seats available.

Eligibility as per Nationality

The eligibility conditions for the B.Ed program under the University of Delhi are determined on the basis of several factors, including nationality.

Candidates residing within India

Eligibility for candidates across the country is determined by their total percentage of marks secured, depending on the category to which they belong. General category candidates must score 50% marks in their graduation or post-graduation level, while OBC, widow, SC/ST, and other categories (PwD) are given a relaxation of 5% and 10% respectively from any recognized university in the following subjects:

  • Science
  • Social Science
  • Humanities
  • Commerce

B.Tech candidates need to score at least 55% marks with specialization in science and mathematics.

Foreign Candidates

  • Foreign candidates should hold a degree of graduation from any Indian University situated abroad.
  • Candidates are further shortlisted on the basis of merit and availability of seats.

Eligibility as per Age Limit

  • Candidates applying for the B.Ed courses must not be less than 21 years of age. There is no relaxation for any reserved category such as SC/ST or OBC.
  • All candidates applying for the Bachelor of Education, whether holding a Bachelor or Master's degree, must not be less than 21 years and more than 28 years of age.

Note: For candidates applying for the distance B.Ed course under Delhi University, there is no specific age bar mentioned, but they should complete a graduation degree or post-graduation degree from any recognized university.

Eligibility as per Academics/Education

The eligibility criteria are different for different candidates as per their academic qualification:

Eligibility criteria for General Graduates

  • Bachelor's Degree or other equivalent degrees preferably from Delhi University or another equivalent university with at least 50% marks in any two subjects out of 200 at their graduation level.

Eligibility criteria for Honors Graduates

The eligibility criteria for the DU B.Ed entrance exam depend on the candidate's educational qualifications. Candidates must have passed from a recognized university with 50% marks in total at their graduation.

Candidates are expected to have an Honors Graduation in one subject with total marks of 400, out of which they must secure 50% marks.

Eligibility Criteria for Post Graduates (Honors Graduates)

Candidates with a master's degree from a recognized university in any of the subjects must have at least 50% marks. If the aspirant decides to teach a different subject other than their master's subject, then the candidate should have studied that specific subject at the graduate level with 200 marks and obtained 50% marks.

Candidates who are not Honors Graduates but qualify with a Master's Degree from any recognized university must have 50% marks in each of the two teaching subjects not included in List I or List II. In this case, the candidate should have studied a minimum of two teaching subjects with a total of 200 marks at the graduate level.

DU B.Ed Programs Eligibility

The candidate must select any one subject from each of the subject categories from the following table. The subject chosen by the candidate must be the one in which they should score at least 50% marks in Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree. This subject will be referred to as the teaching subject in the B.Ed course.

Note: Candidates applying for the above-marked subject (*) as teaching subjects should have done post-graduation in the individual subjects. Candidates who have completed B.Com with 50% marks can choose any subject excluding the subjects in the other subject category.

DU B.Ed Entrance Exam 2024 Reservation Criteria

The reservation criteria for the B.Ed program are done in the subsequent pattern:

Foreign Nationals 5% seats of the total seats
Children/Widows of the eligible Armed Forces Employees including Para Military Forces (CwC) 5% of the seats in each course

Note:

  • The seats allocated for SC/ST aspirants shall be acquired by them only. If there is a case of non-availability of the candidates and the seats remain vacant, then the seats may be interchanged between the SC and ST itself. If the seat remains vacant after that, it will be treated as vacant by the authority. The seats allocated for OBC aspirants shall be acquired by OBC only. If the OBC candidates fail to score the minimum eligibility marks, then the OBC seats are converted to the General category seats in accordance with the admission schedule notified by the university.
  • 1% each of the persons those are visually disabled, with hearing impairment conditions and cerebral palsy including dyslexia. The seats are inter-changed in case of non-availability of the candidates.
  • As per the regulations endorsed by the Academic Council, the admission of the CwC category candidates has to be made in the following series of priorities: Widows of Defense employees killed in any activity; Children/Spouse of any Defense employee disabled in any activity; Widows/Children of any Defense employee disabled during the course of their service tenure in military service; Widows/Children of ex-servicemen persons and ex-employees including employees of police who are awarded with awards like Ashok Chakra, Param Vir Chakra, Maha Vir Chakra, etc.
  • Admission of foreign candidates is determined as per the norms under the University of Delhi. The candidates may also contact FSR Department for the same.

Who can apply

Candidates must be graduates or postgraduates to attend the DU B.Ed Entrance Exam 2024. A Class 12 qualification is not enough.

Candidates who are waiting for their qualifying exam results can also write the exam. Admission is provided based on performance in the qualifying exam.

Minimum marks required

General candidates need a minimum of 50% marks in their qualifying exam. Reserved category candidates get a 5% relaxation in eligibility criteria.

Age limit

Candidates must be 21 years of age to attend the DU B.Ed Entrance Exam 2024. They should have passed graduation or post-graduation to be considered.

Reservation of seats

  • SC candidates: 15% of total seats reserved
  • ST candidates: 7.5% of total seats reserved

CTET and B.Ed

Candidates must have passed their B.Ed program before attending the CTET. Candidates who have not passed B.Ed will not be considered eligible for the course.
