Tips to Maximise Your Chances in HP NEET Counselling 2026

HP NEET Counselling 2026 is competitive. Around 612 state quota MBBS seats are spread across 6 government colleges. Thousands of Bonafide Himachali candidates apply for these seats every year.

• Get your domicile certificate early: The Bonafide Himachali certificate takes time to process from the Tehsildar office. Apply for it immediately after NEET UG 2026 results are declared. Any delay in getting this document can cost you your seat.
• Keep category certificates valid and current: SC/ST/OBC/EWS certificates must be issued by a competent HP authority. They must be valid at the time of joining. Expired certificates are rejected at physical verification.
• Use the 2025 cutoffs to set realistic targets: If your NEET rank is below 35,000 (General), aim for IGMC Shimla and RPGMC Tanda. Ranks between 50,000 and 65,000 give you a good chance at SLBS GMC Mandi. Ranks between 60,000 and 83,000 make GMC Hamirpur, GMC Nahan, and GMC Chamba realistic options. • Do not skip any round: Your registration remains valid across all rounds without fresh registration. Participation in every round is free for candidates already registered.
• Track the AMRU portal daily during counselling: AMRU revised the 2025 schedule multiple times mid-process. Check amruhp.ac.in daily during the July–October window to avoid missing updated deadlines.
• Understand the bond before joining: AMRU requires candidates to sign a bond on a Rs. 10 stamp paper before joining. Early withdrawal means you must pay tuition fees for the remaining course years.

• You must have passed Class 10+2 (or equivalent) with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English as compulsory subjects.
• Your minimum aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology must be: 50% for General/EWS, 40% for SC/ST/OBC, and 45% for PwD (PH).
• Candidates appearing in Class 12 board exams in 2026 may also apply, subject to meeting eligibility at the time of joining.
• You must be at least 17 years of age as of December 31, 2026. There is no upper age limit, as per the Supreme Court of India ruling.
• For state quota (85%) seats, a valid Bonafide Himachali / HP domicile certificate is mandatory. Candidates without an HP domicile can only apply for management or NRI quota seats in private colleges.

2. Enter your name, NEET roll number, date of birth, mobile number, and email ID.
3. Verify your mobile number using the OTP to receive your User ID and Password.
4. Log in with your User ID and Password.
5. Fill the application form with your NEET UG 2026 details, academic qualifications, and domicile information.
6. Upload the required documents, including your domicile certificate, category certificate (SC/ST/OBC/EWS), PwD/PH certificate if applicable, character certificate, valid photo ID, passport-size photographs, and ex-serviceman certificate if applying under that quota.
7. Pay the non-refundable registration fee — Rs. 2,000 for General, OBC, and NRI candidates, and Rs. 1,000 for SC, ST, and PwD candidates.
8. Submit the application form before the deadline. There is no option to submit a physical application.

Choice filling is a one-time opportunity per round. Once you lock your choices, you cannot change them. Colleges placed higher in your list get priority during allotment.

You must join Round 1 to remain eligible for upgradation in Round 2. If you get a seat in Round 2, your Round 1 seat is automatically released back to the pool.

A token amount must be deposited after allotment in Round 2 onwards. It is refundable if no seat is allotted. It is forfeited if a seat is allotted but you do not join.

Only candidates who registered but were not allotted a seat in any main round can participate in the stray round. Once a seat is accepted in the stray round, no further resignation or upgradation is permitted.

You cannot resign from your seat after Round 3 or the final stray round. Candidates who do not join within the reporting window forfeit their eligibility for subsequent rounds.

• Physics: The syllabus covers the NEET UG Physics topics as prescribed for Class 11 and Class 12.
• Chemistry: The syllabus covers the NEET UG Chemistry topics as prescribed for Class 11 and Class 12.
