Government Arts College

The General Library is presently situated in the Clock Tower Building. It was established in the British era and is privileged to have the collection of 67607 text books and 1250 reference books, with a total of 68,857 books. Among those vast numbers of books, a few books deserve notice.

It houses sufficient collection of rare books. Many of them were purchased during the late nineteenth century and early twentieth century, which are now out of print. Besides, the department libraries of English, Tamil and History contain some rare books, which are out of print today.

Library is automated using Integrated Library Management System (ILMS)

The General Library has implemented and installed the automation software, Koha 16.05 Version. It plans to maintain Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) for online search of available books in library. The library will subscribe the UGC—INFLIBNET, N-List e- resources which includes e-journals, e-books and online resources. It aims to form and maintain the Digital Library after completion of library automation process and subscription of e-resources.

The M.Phil Dissertation and Ph.D theses of faculty and students and student projects are available in department libraries to facilitate and encourage research.

கல்லூரியில் பெற்றோர் ஆசிரியர் கழகம் 2012ம் ஆண்டு தொடங்கப்பட்டு அரசு வழிகாட்டுதலின்படி பதிவு செய்யப்பட்டு, மாணவர் மற்றும் ஆசிரியர் நலன் பேணும் அமைப்பாக சிறப்பாக செயல்பட்டு வருகின்றது. கல்லூரி முதல்வர் பொறுப்பு முனைவர் ஜா.பிரேமலதா தலைவராகவும், புவியியல் துறைத்தலைவர் முனைவர் பெ. அருள் செயலராகவும், புவிஅமைப்பியல் துறை இணைப்பேராசிரியர் முனைவர் ந.விஜயகுமார் துணைத்தலைவராகவும், ஆங்கிலத்துறைத் தலைவர் முனைவர் த. கங்காதரன் அவர்கள் இணைச்செயலராகவும், புவிஅமைப்பியல் துறை இணைப்பேராசிரியர் முனைவர் வ. திருமுருகன் பொருளாளராகவும், பெற்றோர் சார்பு உறுப்பினர்களாக திரு உலகநம்பி இணைச்செயலராகவும், திருமதி. தனலட்சுமி இணைத்தலைவராகவும் சிறப்பாக செயல்பட்டு வருகிறார்கள். பெற்றோர் ஆசிரியர் கழகத்தின் சார்பில் மாணவர் நலனுக்காக 17 வருகை விரிவுரையாளர்கள், 1 ஆய்வக உதவியாளர், 1 குறியீட்டாளர், 1 தட்டச்சர், 11 தூய்மை பணியாளர்கள், 1 இரவு காவலர், 1 நூலக உதவியாளர், 1 உதவியாளர் எனத் தொகுத்து 34 பணியாளர்கள் மாத மதிப்பூதியத்தில் பணிபுரிந்து வருகிறார்கள்.

நடப்பு கல்வி ஆண்டு (2025–2026)ல் மேற்கொள்ளவுள்ள பணிகள் மற்றும் செலவினங்கள் தொடர்பான தீர்மானங்களுக்கு ஒப்புதல் பெற்றிடவும், சேர்க்கையின்போது பெறப்பட்ட சந்தா தொகை, பணியாளர்களுக்கு வழங்கப்படும் சம்பளம், மற்றும் கல்லூரி கட்டமைப்பு மற்றும் விழாக்களுக்கு மேற்கொள்ளப்பட்ட செலவினங்கள் ஆகியவற்றைப் பகிர்ந்துகொள்ளவும், கடந்த ஆண்டு செலவினங்களுக்குப் பின் ஏற்பு பெறவும் இப்பொதுக்குழுவின் ஒத்துழைப்பையும் ஆக்கப்பூர்வமான கருத்துக்களையும் செயலாளர் என்ற முறையில் கேட்டுக்கொள்கிறேன்.

புதிதாகத் தொடங்கப்பட்ட பாடப்பிரிவுகளான புவியியல், புவிஅமைப்பியல் மற்றும் புள்ளியியல் துறைகளுக்கு, தமிழ், வரலாறு, பொருளியல், இயற்பியல், தாவரவியல், கணிதம் ஆகிய துறைகளில் காலியாக உள்ள பணியிடங்களிலிருந்து ஆசிரியர் பணியிடமாற்றம் செய்யப்பட்டு, ஏற்கெனவே பணிபுரிந்து வரும் 7 கௌரவ விரிவுரையாளர்கள் தவிர மேலும் 10 ஆசிரியர்கள் கல்வித் தகுதியின் அடிப்படையில் நியமிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளனர். இதற்கான ஒப்புதலை பொதுக்குழுவிடம் வேண்டுகிறோம்.
