Established in 2012 through a governmental proposal, The Government college of Engineering, Sengipatti, Thanjavur is a nationally accredited university that is affiliated to Anna University and accredited by the University Grants Commission (UGC). The college offers undergraduate courses throughout several specializations and across nine departments. The campus area is spread over 35.73 acres.

The institute offers Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) and B.E (lateral) courses for the students. Admissions are secured through the Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions counselling conducted by Anna University. The college offers a plethora of facilities which include Library, on the clock medical assistance, a sports complex coupled with a gym, cafeteria and fully- equipped modern laboratories.
