Gulbarga Institute of Medical Sciences - [GIMS]

The Gulbarga Institute of Medical Sciences’ (GIMS) Central Library was established with the inception of the Institute in the year 2014-15 with the objective to serve the information needs of students and faculty members of the Institute. The library is situated in the fifth floor of the campus, over 300 students/staff seating capacity with elegant modular furniture and central air condition system. The Library has a collection of 10,690 books of Foreign and Indian authors with reference books like Handbooks, Dictionaries, Encyclopaedias, and coloured atlases etc. Besides these, the library also had 500+ CDs/DVDs and subscribes printed National and International journals.

The major e-resource offered by the Central library’s digital library initiative with 40 computers which enables access to 2000+ e-journals, 200+ e-books with 1500+ videos and databases like EBSCO, J-Gate, Pro-quest, Clinicalkey, Jaypee digital, Thieme, UptoDate on various subjects related to medical sciences provided under HELINET (Health Science Library & Information Network) https://helinet.in/ consortium by the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, (RGUHS) Bengaluru. The library is in constant touch with the RGUHS Helinet for inclusion of new journals and databases to support the academic programmes of the Institute.

The vision of making India Atmanirbhar and Viksitbharat@2047, the Government of India approved One Nation One Subscription (ONOS) scheme to provide country-wide access to international high impact scholarly research articles and journal publications to students, faculty and researchers of all Higher Education Institutions. https://www.onos.gov.in/ums/check-access provided by user ID (registered Email ID) and password (sent to email).

The library has been actively interacting with teaching departments and faculty in a proactive approach to develop essential collection of resources. The library functions from 09:00 am to 08:00 pm on all work days, 10:00 am to 02:00 pm on Sundays and holidays.

Digital Library computers with access to Internet and HELINET:

About 2000+ core e-journals, 200+ e-books, 500+ videos and databases are being subscribed/ procured, and provided to the faculty and students under RGUHS HELINET consortium.

The website complies with World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 level AA. This will enable people with visual impairments access the website using assistive technologies, such as screen readers. The information of the website is accessible with different screen readers, such as JAWS, NVDA, SAFA, Supernova and Window-Eyes.
