Indira Gandhi Medical College - [IGMC]

IGMC Shimla, also known as Indira Gandhi Medical College, was established in 1966. It is affiliated with Himachal Pradesh University. It is recognised by the National Medical Commission (NMC) and the Indian Nursing Council (INC). In 2025, MyKollege ranked it 65 in the Medical Category.

IGMC Shimla offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs, which lead to one primary degree: MBBS. For admission to the MBBS program, candidates must have passed 10+2 in Physics, Chemistry and Biology with an aggregate of 50% marks (40% for reserved category) from a recognised board and need to appear for NEET examination followed by HPU or MCC Counselling. In 2024, IGMC Shimla NEET Cutoff overall rank for the general category was 2625. The first-year fee for the MBBS program is INR 60,000.

IGMC Shimla placement report for 2025 has not yet been released. According to student reviews at MyKollege, the college does not have a placement cell for B.Sc. students. However, students still have good chances to get government jobs, especially in Primary Health Centres. The starting salary in these jobs is around INR 40,000 to 60,000 per month. After completing the course, students must do a one-year internship. The average monthly stipend offered was INR 15,000 to 18,000.
