Institute of Hotel Catering Technology and Applied Nutrition, Srinagar was established in 1982. It is sponsored by the Ministry of Tourism. The institute trains candidates in hospitality, catering, and other services.

It was the fifth Institute of Hospitality Management in the country and the first in Jammu and Kashmir. The institute was set up under the Government of India's policy to provide skilled manpower for the hospitality sector. Since its inception, it has worked to meet the demands of this sector.
