Central Library is the heart of an institution. The Central Library of Jorhat Medical College was established in the year 2010. As medical library is the special library so it has been providing services for the medical and other allied health (i.e paramedical & physiotherapy) students along with faculty members of Jorhat Medical College (JMC). This library has approx 700 membership. The library opens from 8 am to 9 pm for the registered members from Monday to Saturday. This library is a two storied building along with a separate room outside of the library. At the ground floor there are different sections like property counter, textbook section, bound volume section, reference book section, reprography section, internet section, circulation section, staff areas and reading section for the students and faculty members. At the first floor users can use their personal books and PG reading area section. The library has also one separate reading room for personal book users and this section is open for 24 hours. The library has 10,000 (approx) numbers of text and reference books, 193 numbers of e-books, 185 numbers of back volume journals, 125 numbers PG thesis, 242 numbers of e-journals and 5 numbers of e-databases. The library has also book bank facility for the SC students. There are 50 numbers of computers along with internet facility and free Wi-Fi facility for bonafide members. The library also provides printing and photocoping facility at nominal fee of charge. Each year library orientation program is provided for the new members of the central library. There are 8 library professional staff and 2 non professional staff. Different types of library services like circulation service, reference service, internet service, current awareness service, book reservation service, printing service, e-resources accessing service etc. A few numbers of donated books is also available in the library for the better utilisation by the library users. Besides medical science books some general books like novel and other historical books are also available for recreation and pastime for the library users.
