A large number of sophisticated equipment and advanced facilities/centres are available at NIPER S.A.S. Nagar. A few of the major ones are listed below:

The research facilities at NIPER, Mohali has Central Instrumentation Laboratories (CIL) equipped with a variety of sophisticated, advanced instruments. CIL caters to the needs of researchers within the Institute as well as outside academic and industrial users. Continuous upgradation is done to align with international standards and high-quality research in Chemical Sciences, Biological Sciences, and Pharmaceutical Sciences. CIL offers various testing facilities. Workshops are conducted to explain the functioning of the instruments to students, researchers, and professionals participated across India and from Abroad (ITEC-SCAAP program). The hands-on experience on various instruments also is provided to the participants. To find detail information, including list of all instruments, charges for their use and service request forms, please visit the webpage of Central Instrumentation Laboratories...

National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER), S.A.S. Nagar as an establishment is registered with Committee for the Purpose of Control and Supervision of Experiments on Animals (CPCSEA), Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climatic Change, Government of India for the Research for education, Research for the commercial purpose, Breeding for in-house use and Breeding for the purpose of trading of small laboratory animals (108/GO/Re/Rc/Bi/Bt/99/CPCSEA).The Central Animal Facility (CAF) is the double storied building with ‘Two-way corridor system’ to minimize the cross contamination and for the efficient animal house operations. The first floor is dedicated to the breeding of different small laboratory rodents like mice, rats, hamsters, gerbils and guinea pigs for the supply to the various in-house and consultancy research projects. The animals are also supplied on request to the outside CPCSEA registered establishments on stipulated terms and conditions. Each animal species is housed separately in individual room to prevent inter-species disease transmission and anxiety due to interspecies conflict. The animals are well _selftained under controlled environmental conditions (temperature (23+3°C), relative humidity (30-70 %), 12:12 h light and dark cycle with 100 % of fresh air exchange in animal rooms. The macro- and micro-environment around the animals are _selftained as per the CPCSEA guidelines. In addition to the breeding unit, there is a separate experimental unit available for the holding and conducting the experiments on animals. Full time veterinarian is available to provide veterinary care to the animals. A high degree of personal hygiene and sanitation is being practiced. Regular cleaning and disinfection of animal rooms, corridors, storage spaces and other areas are carried out. Routine cleaning and sterilization of animal supplies like cages, water bottles and bedding are performed. Horizontal heavy duty autoclave is installed for the sterilization purpose and regularly monitored for its effectiveness of operations. Periodic health monitoring of the animals is carried out. In addition, feed and water analysis are carried out for ensuring their quality and microbiological contamination. Waste disposal is carried out through incinerator. The routine works at CAF are carried out as per the standard operating procedures adopting GLP principles to achieve the quality production and supply of the experimental animals.

The Computer Aided Drug Design Laboratory of the Institute has Silicone Graphics Octane and Silicone Graphics Fuel _self frame computers with various molecular modeling packages such as SYBYL, PC SPARTAN PRO, CHEM-X, AMBER, Gaussain 98, Protein Data Bank, and Alchemy etc. The objective of this laboratory is to rationally design new chemical entities for various therapeutic areas. The laboratory also imparts training in molecular modeling to scientist, research students from other universities/Institutes.

The Institute has recently created a Combichem Research Laboratory. The fully automated Multiple Organic Synthesiser with on-line analytical facility will enable high speed solution and solid phase synthesis of libraries of molecules. The multiple vessel reaction platforms make the synthesis feasible under various conditions such as low temperature (upto -80°C), high temperature (upto 200°C), and high pressure. Apart from its own research needs, the Institute makes this facility open for custom synthesis of small molecule libraries and training researchers from pharmaceutical companies and other institutions/organisation.

NIPER has recently created state-of-the-art solid phase peptide synthesis facility. The peptide synthesis is carried out on a fully automated CSBIO-136 peptide synthesizer by a team consisting of expert peptide chemists. The facility is capable of synthesizing up to 12 amino acids containing peptide in 24 hours by using both t-Boc and Fmoc peptide synthesis protocols. Institute is open to inquiries related to custom peptide synthesis from various pharmaceutical companies, research institutes and agencies interested in peptides for research.

The National Toxicology Centre (NTC), a state-of-art test facility is constructed on an area of 700 sq. meters. established for toxicity studies of new chemical entities, food / feed additives / Pharmaceuticals / Chemicals / Pesticides from industries and other research organizations. The National GLP Compliance Monitoring Authority from Dept. of Science and Technology, Govt. of India New Delhi approved National Toxicology Centre (NTC) for conducting various toxicological studies. This has facilitated the testing of new chemical entities for regulatory submission in a quality environment which is acceptable to different regulatory bodies. Till now we have successfully completed many studies of national and international origin. We are routinely conducting acute and sub-chronic studies on small laboratory animals for sponsors which are from both public and private sector.
