National Institute of Technology - [NIT] Meghalaya

The Centre for Career Development is an integral part of National Institute of Technology Meghalaya (NIT Meghalaya). The objective of the Centre is to make each and every student of NIT Meghalaya a success story and to impart legendary leadership qualities to all the students. It not only ensures that the graduation outcome of the student is a fruitful and upright one, but also ensures that the students develop into a complete human being with the perfect combination of professional and business ethics while still maintaining the values within themselves. The Centre is privileged to generate manpower resources for both the domestic and global economic growth engine over the years by functioning as a vital bridge between the students of the institute and the industries. To meet both the career aspirations of the students and the expectations of the corporate world, the Centre carries out the following functions: 1. Final Placement of the final year students of all the programmes viz. B.Tech, M.Tech, M.Sc. and research scholars in domestic and international corporate houses of repute. 2. Internship of the 2nd, 4th and 6th semester students of the various programmes. 3. Conducting employability enhancement programmes and workshops. 4. Conducting career counselling programmes and workshops. The Institute has all the state-of-the-art facilities to facilitate the campus hiring activities of the companies. It has a well-furnished hall for pre-placement talks (named the Rendezvous) with a capacity of 100 persons; a well-furnished group discussion room (named the Oval) to hold group discussion for a group of 12 persons with 3 moderators; and 3 interview rooms (named Conclave, Pavilion-1 and Pavilion-2). Additionally, the hall has 30 computers with thin client servers to conduct online tests in the pre-placement talks venue itself. The Centre also utilizes the Conference Hall of the Institute for carrying out video-conferencing and the Computer Centre when the need arises.

The institute is committed to achieve excellence in quality technical education, research and extension imbibed with professional and ethical values by providing a comprehensive and innovative education through its competent faculty and state-of-the-art infrastructure.

The institute believes in the philosophy of achieving the holistic development of students by adopting its core values like academic integrity, excellence in teaching-learning through student-centric pedagogy, interdisciplinary interaction through electives & projects, nourishing the creativity of the students through innovation, skill development and instilling social responsibilities. We are also emphasising on collaboration with industries, innovative industry-based projects, soft skill, personality development, co-curricular and extracurricular activities in order to meet the ever-increasing expectations and challenges of the industry and society. In addition to having NBA approval, NIT Meghalaya has secured consistently high NIRF rankings for last few years. It gives me immense pleasure to inform you that the Institute ranks 16th among all the NITs of the country, and stands 2nd among all the new NITs and also the Northeast NITs.

NIT Meghalaya has the mission to produce students with the multi-dimensional approach by providing them with skill-based multifaceted courses through NEP-2020. The Academic Bank of Credit is functional for our students. Dynamic Curriculum development is continuing and already started implementing for the B.Tech programmes in the institute. The students have to undergo internship program mandatorily and also take up research-oriented projects primarily focussed on product development to give them the desired confidence and the outlook for innovation.

The institute has an excellent placement record with multiple offers from reputed national and multinational companies. The Alumni of NIT Meghalaya are one of its greatest strengths and brand ambassador of the institute. I feel proud of the alumni for constantly bringing fame and reputation to the institute by excelling in their respective field.

The institute creates an engineering start-up ecosystem by establishing an innovation incubation and entrepreneurship development centre. It promotes innovation, research and entrepreneurial activities in technology-based areas among the students and young faculty members. At present NIT Meghalaya is functioning in a temporary campus at Shillong. With the support of the MoE and state govt we are expecting the completion of permanent campus at Village Saitsohpen, Sohra, Meghalaya within the next 1(one) year with best of the facilities for the excellent academic ambience.
