Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology (RGIPT), Jais, is an autonomous institution established by the Government of India. It has the status of "An Institution of National Importance" under the "Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology Act 2007".

Course 1: B.Tech

The institution offers B.Tech under specializations. • Eligibility: Intermediate graduate with a minimum of 60% marks (55% for SC/ST/PwD). Final selection will be based on the score in JEE (Advanced) obtained by the candidate.
• Application Fee: INR 600 for Female and SC/ST Candidates and INR 1200 for all other candidates.

Course 2: M.Tech

RGIPT offers the M.Tech program in two disciplines i.e. Petroleum and Chemical Engineering.

• Duration: 2-year | Full-time
• Seat Intake: 30 in each discipline
• Eligibility for Regular Category: B.Tech/B.E. degree in relevant discipline with minimum 60% marks (55% for SC/ST). The student must also have a valid score of GATE.
• Application Fee: INR 400 for General and OBC and INR 200 for SC/ST/PwD and Female.

Admission in Sponsorship Category: This category will only have to qualify in a subject-wise written test/interview. GATE score is not required, however, the candidates falling in this category will not be eligible for financial help provided by the Institute. The candidate should have worked for a sponsoring organization for at least two years and need to submit a No Objection Certificate, leave approval for one year.

Selection Procedure: Applicants will be shortlisted on the basis of merit scored in the qualifying exam. They will be further required to appear for a written test and personal interview. Final selection will be made on the performance in both these stages, GATE score, and previous academic performance.

Note: Financial assistance of INR 12,400 will be given per month to the GATE qualified students.

Course 3: MBA

The Department of Management studies offers an MBA program to students in the various areas of specialization. These are Energy Management, Financial Management, Marketing Management, and Human Resources Management.

Candidates must have scored a minimum of 50% marks in Class 10 and Class 12 from a recognized board. A bachelor's degree with 50% marks from a UGC or AICTE recognized university is also required.

Eligibility for Ph.D.

Candidates need a master's degree in a relevant discipline and a qualified score in the GATE or NET exam. Final selection is based on the score of GATE, CSIR, UGC, NBHM, DBT, GPAT, Rajiv Gandhi National Fellowship, Maulana Azad National Fellowship, or any similar fellowship.

Selection Procedure for Ph.D.

Short-listed candidates must give a written test followed by a presentation or viva-voce conducted at the Institute. The final merit list is based on the GATE score, marks obtained in the written test, and the previous qualifying examination.

Note: The candidate is entitled to a scholarship based on marks obtained in the master's degree (M.Phil/M.Sc/M.A) and any national level test such as UGC, CSIR, or NBHM.

RGIPT helps students get both summer internships and final job placements. The placement cell provides constant interaction with the industry through seminars, summer internships, research projects, and on-campus and off-campus initiatives.

Are there any scholarship schemes for students at RGIPT?

RGIPT offers a Merit cum Means Scholarship to a selective number of non-SC/ST students. The scholarship amount equals 25% of the tuition fee and is effective from the first semester.

Does RGIPT organise extra-curricular activities for students?
