Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences (SIMATS) is a private deemed university in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, started in 1988 as a dental college. It became a university in 2005. SIMATS has 16 colleges offering courses in medicine, dentistry, engineering, law, management, and allied health sciences across two campuses: Poonamallee and Thandalam. It is approved by UGC, AICTE, and NMC, with A++ grade from NAAC. The university ranks 2nd in Dental, and 23rd overall by NIRF 2025. SIMATS offers many courses like MBBS, BDS, B.Tech, B.Sc, MBA, M.Sc, and Ph.D. Popular B.Tech specializations include Artificial Intelligence, Biotechnology, and Information Technology. Admission to B.Tech needs 75% in class 12 and JEE Main or TNEA counseling. MBBS and BDS require 50% in class 12 and NEET scores with MCC counseling. Other courses like B.Sc and B.Com are merit-based. In 2024, 430 students were eligible for placements at SIMATS, and 275 were placed, with a median salary of 7.5 LPA, as per NIRF reports. Over the years, placement trends show 316 students placed in 2021-22 with a median of 9.3 LPA, and 351 in 2022-23 with 7.43 LPA. Top recruiters include Apollo Hospitals, Fortis Healthcare, Max Healthcare, Cipla, and Piramal Enterprises.
