About this Scholarship
The Archaeological Survey of India offers a scholarship for Indian students.
The scholarship is for a two-year Post Graduate Diploma in Archaeology.
Eligible candidates must have a Master's Degree in Ancient or Medieval Indian History, Archaeology, Anthropology, Indian Classical language, or Geology with knowledge of Pleistocene age from a recognized University or equivalent.
The minimum aggregate of marks required is 55% (50% for SC/ST/OBC candidates).
The upper age limit is 25 years, with relaxation for SC/ST/OBC and in-service candidates as per rules.
During the course, non-service students will receive a stipend of Rs.1500/- per month, along with second class railway or ordinary bus fares for attending outstation training camps.

- Ancient or Medieval Indian History
- Archaeology
- Anthropology
- Indian Classical language (Sanskrit, Pali, Prakrit, Arabic, or Persian)
- Geology with knowledge of Pleistocene age

<ol><li>Obtain the prospectus from the office of the Director, Institute of Archaeology, Archaeological Survey of India, Red Fort, Delhi - 110 006 against a Demand Draft of Rs.250/- in favour of Director, Institute of Archaeology payable at New Delhi.</li><li>Send a self-addressed envelope (size 32 cms x 22 cms or A4 size) with the Demand Draft.</li><li>Write your name and address (in capital letters) on the back of the Demand Draft.</li><li>The last date for accepting the request for the prospectus is 14th July 2007.</li><li>Submit your application by 31.7.2007.</li></ol>
