About this Scholarship

The Birbal Sahni Research Scholarships are offered by the Birbal Sahni Institute of Palaeosciences, Lucknow. The scholarships are tenable for a period of two years and are open to Indian citizens who are normally residing in India.

The scholarships are available to candidates who have a Master's degree in Life Sciences, Earth Sciences, or an allied subject with a first division (at least 60% marks) at both the graduate and post-graduate levels.

Preference will be given to candidates who are CSIR/UGC/NET qualified. The age limit for the scholarships is 28 years, with a relaxation of up to 3 years for candidates who have research training or experience in a relevant discipline.

The scholarships carry a stipend of Rs.16,000/- PM during the first and second year, and Rs.18,000/- PM during the third year, subject to satisfactory progress. Candidates with CSIR/UGC/NET qualification are entitled to a higher stipend.
