Placement Cell Overview

The Placement Cell of St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata, connects students with leading organisations and supports their move into the professional world. The Cell operates throughout the year under the supervision of Mr. Niladri Sinha, assisted by students. It arranges campus interviews and acts as the contact point for all companies that wish to select students from the college.

St. Xavier’s College was one of the first colleges to start a Placement Cell. The Cell manages the full process, from collecting student CVs to organising pre-placement talks by companies and the final induction process.

Placement Results

Over 550 students were successfully placed through on-campus and off-campus drives. This was achieved despite a challenging job market marked by economic fluctuation and rapid advancements in generative AI. The Placement Cell adopted proactive strategies and strengthened industry collaborations to ensure strong placement outcomes.

CTC packages ranged from ₹4 lakhs to ₹36 lakhs per annum.

Volunteer Recruitment

Recruitment for volunteers begins each year with the new batch and is managed by the Core Committee. Volunteers work in structured teams to coordinate corporate outreach, maintain communication with HR partners, and assist in the smooth conduct of recruitment drives.

Students receive timely company updates through the Placement Portal, email, and class groups. For regular updates on the organisations coming to campus, students should visit the Notice Board.

Application Fee and Payment

Online payment of Rs. 500 (five hundred only) is mandatory to avail of the services of the Placement Cell. Students must login to complete the application and take a printout of the Acknowledgement Card or Payment Slip.

Student Development and Training

The Placement Cell acts as an aide that hones student skills by conducting seminars and mock GD/PI sessions. These sessions make students more industry-compatible. The Cell also assists students in crafting their CVs and advises them in securing a job of their choice.

The college offers specially designed courses with regular revisions and a continuous examination pattern. This keeps students updated with new developments in their field of specialisation and maintains high academic standards. The credit system ensures participation in varied extracurricular activities, including sports, fests, NCC, and management. The college hosts some of the country’s best debaters, sportspersons, artists, and budding management professionals.
