History

Founded by Dr. Jerome P. Keuper, FIT started its journey as the Brevard Engineering College in 1958. FIT is a STEM-designated institute which was established due to Keuper's desire to create a scientific and technological university. In 1966, the institute acquired its now-known name - Florida Institute of Technology.
