About Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology

The Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology (NMIT) was established in 1904. Initially, it offered education in subjects such as plumbing, commerce, craft, secretarial work, cookery, and engineering. In 1930, the institute merged with Nelson College, expanding its offerings with several new vocational and part-time courses. In 1971, Nelson Polytechnic became an independent technical institute.

Today, NMIT is a government-funded institution authorized by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA). It offers courses across diverse disciplines, including:
