History
The university began in 1828 as the New Paltz Classical School. The first UG degrees were awarded to 112 members of the Class of 1942. In 1947, it started offering PG Education programs. 1948 saw New Paltz become one of the original campuses to join the newly established State University of New York System. The university has continued to refine its program and research quality since then, and today ranks among the best universities in New York for Indian students.
