University of Texas at San Antonio was first established at a ceremony that was held in front of the Alamo on Jun 5, 1969 and has had a history for over 50 years. In 1970, the university campus was getting fully established and the design was made based on an old European city. By the year 1976, the construction of UT San Antonio's main campus was completed and the first class of students including 671 graduates was started earlier in 1973.
During Aug 1974, University of Texas at San Antonio had its first commencement of courses by offering degrees to 82 students initially. The Hemisfair campus of UT San Antonio was founded in 1968 and by the year 1977, the Roadrunner had become the university's mascot.
