Established in 1894, the University of West of Scotland (UWS) has a storied history dating back to the late 19th century. Through mergers and name changes, it has evolved into a leading institution in the West of Scotland region. The university, resulting from the 2007 merger of the University of Paisley and Bell College, Hamilton, now boasts a rich heritage inherited from various predecessor institutions.Today, UWS is known for its vocational undergraduate and postgraduate courses, catering to 16,105 students and supported by approximately 1300 staff across six schools of learning.
