About the Institution

Kolkata Medical College (KMC), officially known as Medical College Kolkata, is one of the best government medical colleges in India. Located in West Bengal ,it was established in 1835 by Lord William Bentinck as the first institution in Asia to teach students Western medicine in English. It is recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC) and is affiliated to the West Bengal University of Health Sciences (WBUHS).

KMC Kolkata has long legacy of excellence in medical education and research and patient care. Pivotal to healthcare delivery in India, KMC Kolkata ranked #24 among medical colleges in India by India Today, #9 by IIRF, and #44 by NIRF.

KMC Kolkata’s flagship undergraduate program is the MBBS program, with an annual intake of 250 students and PG programs including MD, MS, DM, M.Ch. and diploma programs in a vast array of clinical and pre-clinical subspecialties. Admissions to the MBBS,MD / MS, and DM / M.Ch work based on NEET-UG ,NEET-PG and NEET SS, respectively, followed by centralized counselling.
