All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Madurai, or AIIMS Madurai, is a public medical university that was founded in 2019 under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana. It is located in Madurai, Tamil Nadu. The institute is recognized as an Institute of National Importance and is governed by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The institute holds a rank of #99 out of 500 colleges in India according to the MyKollege Medical Ranking 2025. The flagship course at AIIMS Madurai is the MBBS program, which has an annual intake of 50. Admission is determined by the NEET-UG entrance exam, and counselling is conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee. The total fees for MBBS is INR 6,750. Like other AIIMS, the institute is expected to introduce postgraduate (MD, MS), doctoral (Ph.D.), and super-specialty (DM, M.Ch.) programs in a phased manner once the hospital and academic infrastructure are fully established.
