Cotton University was previously established, as Cotton College, in 1901 by Sir Henry Cotton.It is a public state university, re-established in 2017, located in Guwahati, Assam. It is UGC-approved and accredited with an ‘A’ grade by NAAC. Cotton University offers 91+ programs across UG, PG, PhD, Integrated, and Diploma levels. Popular courses include B.Sc (Hons.), MA and M.Sc. UG Admissions are primarily merit-based, drawing scores from the qualifying examination. However, admission to specific UG and integrated courses also mandates a valid CUET UG score. PG admissions are conducted through CUPGEE. Cotton University hosts 10+ research centres, promoting advanced work in climate science, humanities, biosciences, and data science. Cotton University is known for producing eminent alumni, including Dr Bhupen Hazarika, Gopinath Bordoloi, and several national leaders, scientists, and artists.
