About the Institution

IIT Roorkee is an autonomous technical and research University established in the year 1847 as Thomason College of Civil Engineering, and is Asia’s oldest technical University. As per the NIRF ranking 2024, IIT Roorkee secured 1st rank in the Architecture & Planning category, 8th rank in the overall category and 6th place in the Engineering category. It is one of the oldest Indian Institutes of Technology. The institute offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and Ph.D programs, which lead to two primary degrees: B.Tech and M.Tech. The institute offers a B.Tech program in 11 specialisations. Admission to the B.tech program is through the JEE Advanced, followed by JoSAA counselling. The JEE Advanced cutoff rank for round 1 is 535 - 16596 for the General category in 2025. and the first-year fees for the B.Tech program at IIT Roorkee are approximately INR 2.3 Lakhs.
