Kerala Kalamandalam is a training center and conducts the performance of classical arts and was established by poet Vallathol Narayana Menon and Munkadaraja in 1930 in Thrissur, Kerala. It is a UGC recognized university offering Arts and Culture courses. The college provides BA, MA, M.Phil, and Ph.D. in the field of Cultural and Performing arts. Kerala Kalamandalam has Departments of Kathakali, Mohiniyattam, Kuttiyattam, Mridangam, Chenda, Karnatic Music, Malayalam, English, and Sanskrit. Aspiring candidates will have to appear for the university entrance exam followed by an interview round for admissions. Apart from studies, the college also provides library facility, where they have more than 50,000 books related to theater, music, dance, Indian History, Aesthetics, Epics, and Puranas. All the students have to stay in the college hostel until they complete their courses. In terms of placement, the college provides ample opportunities in performing arts in different areas.
