GMCET 2026 Registration Started

Registration for GMCET 2026 has started. Candidates can register on the official website at https://gmcet.org/. The last date to register will be notified soon.

GMCET 2026 exam dates have not been released yet on the official website. The exam will be conducted in July 2026 (Tentative). The result will be declared in August 2026 (Tentative).

What is GMCET?

The Global Media Common Entrance Test (GMCET) was earlier known as the All India Media Common Entrance Test (AIMCET). It is an all-South Asia entrance test for undergraduate media courses. The exam is conducted at the institution and university level.

The exam is powered by edInbox, South Asia's largest education-focused platform. GMCET is accepted by over 50 universities and institutions across South Asia.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must meet the GMCET 2026 eligibility criteria to apply. The requirements are given below.

• Candidates must have a minimum education qualification of Higher Secondary (10+2) or any equivalent education with a minimum aggregate of 50% for General Category & 45% for SC/ST/OBC.
• Candidates appearing for Higher Secondary (10+2) or any equivalent education can also apply.
• A candidate with a three or four-year diploma from a recognized university approved by AICTE with a minimum of 50% marks can apply.

Application Process

The application for GMCET 2026 is completed online. The steps are listed below.

1. Visit the official website gmcet.org and click on the Apply Now Button.
2. Register for the GMCET examination by providing all required details.
3. An automated email with a Username & Password will be sent to the registered email ID/Phone Number.
4. Log in to the portal, fill the complete application form, click on Pay Now and pay the application fee of INR 1000/-.
5. After successful completion, the Application Form summary and Payment recipient can be seen on the dashboard.

Candidates can pay the fee through UPI, Paytm, Debit/ Credit Cards, PayU and Net Banking. For issues while filling the form, contact support@gmcet.org or call 08035018499.

Admit Card

Admit cards will be available for download from the Registration Portal on a specified date. Only candidates with complete registration can download the admit card.

The admit card will contain the candidate's Name, GMCET Registration ID, Roll Number, Date of Birth, Category, photograph, signature, examination schedule, examination time and instructions. Candidates should check all entries carefully.

Exam Pattern

The GMCET 2026 exam is one hour long with 100 multiple choice questions, each with one correct answer. The total is 100 marks with no negative marking.

The exam has four sections with 25 questions each. The sections are:

The GMCET 2026 exam is conducted online. Candidates can use a mobile, laptop, or desktop to attempt the exam.

GMCET 2026 Result

• Results will be declared in August 2026.
• GMCET results are available only on the official GMCET websites. Candidates need their user login and password, created during registration, to view results.
• A hard copy of the GMCET Score Card will not be available. It will not be sent to qualified candidates by post or email.
• All shortlisted candidates receive a common merit rank, which is the All India Rank. All shortlisted candidates are considered qualified for GMCET 2026.
• The result is generated through digital medium. Enrollment into the course is subject to further verification of documents. The admission process will be notified to candidates by mail within 3 days from the result declaration.

Why GMCET

GMCET is the first initiative of its kind by the Global Media Education Council (GMEC). It aims to standardise the assessment of aspiring graduates of the media industry.

GMCET 2026 Admission Process

Candidates seeking admission to undergraduate media courses offered by the universities must follow the process below.

Step 1: Appear for a Personal Interview

Based on the score in the online test, candidates may be called for the Counselling Document Verification round. Candidates who qualify in all stages of the admission process can participate in further counseling.

Step 2: Appear for Counselling

Selected candidates can appear for counseling in the universities where they want admission. After that, they must complete admission formalities and pay the course fee.

Test Centres: The GMCET 2026 exam is conducted in online mode. Candidates are given a time slot to appear for the exam. Candidates must appear at least 15 minutes before the exam begins. Test slots for the exam day are informed a day before the examination on the registered email and mobile number of the candidate.

About Global Media Common Entrance Test (GMCET)

The Global Media Common Entrance Test (GMCET) is a media entrance exam conducted by the Global Media Council (GMC). The Council is being established in India as a non-profit organisation under Indian law. It will have national chapters and a global body.

The Council acts as a bridge between media educators (institutes), learners (trainees), and the industry (recruiters). Its members contribute to learning approaches, tools, and techniques. They also help select entry-level talent in media educational institutes.

Edinbox.com, an educational portal from India, has proposed the idea of the Council and supports it initially. The portal and its management will have a role in developing the Council.
