MGU CAT exam dates 2024 have been announced. The exam will be conducted for two days, March 17 and 18 2024. MGU CAT exam 2024 will be conducted in three sessions: Session 1 will be from 09.00 AM - 11 AM, Session 2 will be from 11.30 AM - 1.30 PM and Session 3 will be from 02.30 PM - 04.30 PM.

MGU CAT 2024 Exam Pattern will be set by Mahatma Gandhi University for students who are willing to apply for post-graduation.
- The paper will be conducted in offline mode

MGU CAT 2024 Counselling Process
Counselling process will begin in the Last week of June tentatively. The shortlisted candidates will be called for counselling round. The allotment of seats will be based on the availability of seats, options exercised and rank obtained. During the process of counselling, candidates have to select the preferences of specialization.

Eligibility
MGU CAT eligibility criteria 2024 are defined in terms of age limit, marks required, mandatory subject according to the choice of subject and seat reservation. Mahatma Gandhi University has released the detailed eligibility criteria for MGU CAT in their official brochure at cat.mgu.ac.in.
The maximum age limit to apply for MGU CAT 2024 is 25 years. You have to qualify for a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 50% from a recognised university. For the subject you will be applying for you must have a Bachelor’s degree in that subject specifically. As per the reservation policy of Mahatma Gandhi University, there are seven types of MGU CAT seat reservation: Reservation for International Students, Reservation for natives of Union territories/States other than Kerala, Reservation for Persons with Disabilities, Reservation for Transgender Candidate, Sports, Cultural Quota, Special and Mandatory Reservation.
MGU CAT 2024 Eligibility Criteria
Candidates who meet eligibility requirements can fill MGU CAT Application Form. The exam has different eligibility criteria for different courses. All the eligibility criteria are mentioned below:
- For M.Sc in Physics:
- Candidates must have done his under graduation in physics.
- Candidate must have secured an aggregate of 50% or CGPA 2 in part III.

- For Master of Tourism and Travel Management (with specialization in Aviation Management Tour Operations and Health Tourism).
- Candidate must have done bachelors degree in subjects concerned with an aggregate of 50% or CGPA 2 in part III from any recognized university or Mahatma Gandhi University.
- For LLM:
- Candidate must have done LLB with an aggregate of 50% or CGPA 2 in part III.
- For M. Ed. In Language Education:
- Candidate must have done B. Ed with an aggregate if 55% or CGPA 2.2
NOTE: The verfication of the eligibility criteria would be done only at the time of MGU CAT Counselling.
MGU CAT Reservation Criteria
MGU CAT exam will also have some seats reserved for the candidates. But that reservation also has certain criteria. Candidates need to meet those requirements in order to take advantage of reserved seats. There are 3 kinds of reservation provided to the candidates. All these are explained below in detail:
1. Reservation for persons with disabilities
Candidates with any kind of disabilities have to clear entrance test first. After that, they can claim reservation. Some of the important things about reservation are:
- 3% of the total seats in all the programmes are reserved for this category.
- One-third of the total 3% is reserved for candidates who are blind, deaf or orthopedically challenged respectively.
- Candidates who are more than 405 disable could claim reservation only.
2. Special Reservation
The special reservation category mainly consists of 3 different sub-categories.
- Economically Backward among Forward Communities (EBFC):
Some of the important things about reservation are:
- 7.5% of the total seats in all non-professional courses are reserved for this category.
- 6.5% of the total seats in all professional courses are reserved for this category.
- If no seats are available in this quota, the candidates will be allotted general seats.
- Teacher’s quota:
Some of the important things about this reservation are:
- Only one seat is reserved under this quota.
- This is for M. Ed only.
- Children of the teachers who are teaching in Govt. /Aided Colleges/Schools on a regular basis can claim for this reservation.
- Foreign students quota:
Some of the important things about this reservation are:
- 2% of seats are reserved for this category.
- Foreign students can claim for this even without entrance.
- This reservation can be claimed on self financing as well as the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) attached to the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India.
3. Mandatory reservation
This is the third type of reservation by MGU CAT 2024. Under this, some of the mandatory reservations are provided to some categories. The distribution is as follows:

Category Wise Important Documents for MGU CAT
Candidates willing to claim reservation are required to submit the below-mentioned documents at the time of counselling and final admission process. Failing to carry any of the below-mentioned categories may lead to the debarment of candidates.
- Candidates claiming reservation under disability certificate of disability by medical board constituted for the same.
- Candidates claiming reservation under Economically Backward among Forward Communities must submit BPL certificates.
- Candidates claiming reservation under teachers quota must submit (Certificates countersigned by AEO / DEO / DD
- Candidates claiming reservation under Foreign Students Quota must submit original application along with the copies of below-given certificates:
- Curriculum vitae.
- Copies of mark lists/transcripts of all examinations undergone.
- Two copies of recent passport size photographs.
- Conduct certificate from the Head of the Institution last studied.
- Reference letters from two persons who have intimate knowledge of the academic capabilities of the candidates.

MGU CAT registration 2024 fees are Rs.1200 for general category candidates and Rs.600. You have to pay the MGU CAT 2024 application fee online.

How to Fill MGU CAT 2024 Application Form?
Only a single online application will be considered valid while applying for MGU CAT exam. Candidates will be required to select 4 various academic programs in the different teaching departments at the time of registration.
Here is step by step process to apply online for Indian national:
Registration:
- Visit the official website www.cat.mgu.ac.in
- Click “Apply Online” on the top of homepage
- Register using personal details and set a password with a combination of alphabets, special characters, and numbers.
- An application number will be generated after successful registration.
- The application number and password can be used to login on to the website.
Fill Personal Detail:
- Fill the online application form with required personal information such as name, date of birth, gender etc.
- SC/ST candidates should select their category from the drop-down menu and process the concession fees accordingly.
- For Qualification details, two sections will appear on the screen. One section for M Sc., MA., LLM, and MTTM programs and other for M.Ed. programs. candidates should enter details for only one section unless they want to apply for both programs.
- Select 4 choice of Academic programs on the basis of preference.
- Next, select the Test Centers. Maximum of 3 centres should be selected on the basis of preference.
Upload Images:
- A scanned copy of recent colour passport-sized photograph should be uploaded.
- The photograph should not exceed 30kb size in JPG/JPEG format
Fee Payment:
- To process the application form, payment of the application fee is a crucial step. The application will not be processed until the fee is paid.
- Application Fee for General category will be INR 1000 and for SC/ST will be INR 500 respectively.
- Process your Application fee payment using credit/debit/cash card whichever will be available at the applicant’s convenience.
- Application Fees paid by any other means will not be accepted and the application will not be processed.
- After successful payment of fees, click “Final Submit” button to complete the application process.
Take the print out of the application form for further reference. MGU CAT exam pattern is authorised by Mahatma Gandhi University. The exam is conducted for Integrated Programs, MA, M.Sc and Masters of Tourism and Travel department. MGU CAT 2024 Marking Scheme
MGU CAT 2024 question paper will be of 80 marks. Each question carries 1 one mark and 4 options. There will be no negative score for incorrect answers. The marks calculated for MGU CAT 2022 will depend on the following:
- The marks scored by the candidate in the entrance test for the respective subject will be converted to 1000.
- The bonus marks or the weightage marks that facilitate to some categories.
Bonus/Weightage marks in MGU CAT 2024:
Indexing of marks will depend on the bonus marks awarded to the students as per the below guidelines:
- NCC candidates will be rewarded with a bonus of 5 marks provided candidate possess a genuine NCC certificate with seal and signature by the Director and issued by the Directorate with minimum of 75% attendance. Moreover, A certificate holder will be awarded with 3 points whereas B and C certificate holders will get 5 points.
- NSS candidates will be awarded with a bonus of 5 marks provided candidate has a NSS certificate which should be legally signed by the Vice-Chancellor or Pro Vice-Chancellor and issued to candidates who have successfully completed 240 hours’ work in a two years’ span.
- Ex-servicemen, widows and children of Jawans will be awarded with 15 marks.
- Candidates who have applied for M.Ed. courses and are completed with their corresponding B.Ed. degree will also be facilitated with bonus points.15 marks as bonus points will be awarded to candidates with a first-class PG degree whereas 10 marks will be rewarded to candidates with a second-class Post Graduate degree and 5 marks will be awarded to candidates with the third-class PG degree respectively.
- Deduction of 5 marks will be done from the overall indexed marks of applicants for each additional appearance taken for completing the qualifying test.
MGU CAT 2024 Syllabus
Candidates can get graduation books as per the academic programs. Candidates can choose up to four academic courses in which they wish to pursue post-graduation. According to those chosen courses, they must study all the corresponding graduation books the university recommends to pass the entrance test.

Important Instructions
All the important instructions and guidelines for MGU CAT are bulleted below:
- Applicant must be present at the examination center 30 minutes prior to the commencement of the entrance test.
- Under any circumstances, applicant’s entry will be prohibited in the reporting center without MGU CAT 2024 admit card.
- Electronic gadgets like mobile phones, calculators or suchlike are restricted inside the examination center.
- Applicants are not allowed to open the seal of exam booklet unless instructed to do the same.
- Candidates are given an extra time of 10 minutes to read the distributed exam booklet thoroughly to avoid unwanted situations.
- Personal belongings like baggage must be kept outside the center. Also, the center will not be responsible for mishappening of any sort with the belongings.
- Answers should be marked correctly in the OMR sheet as per applicant’s ability and knowledge by darkening the appropriate options.
- Applicant will not be allowed to leave the center before the timings of the examination as it can lead to the cancellation of the examination.
- Candidature will be cancelled for applicant who will be found guilty for using unfair means to mark the answers.
Results
MGU CET Result 2024 is released in the form of a rank list. MGU CET result can be checked from the official website of Mahatma Gandhi University, cat.mgu.ac.in. The result contain name, rank, roll number, category, caste, date of birth, test mark and total mark obtained by the candidate. MGU CET results can be downloaded with the MGU CET credential used during the time of registration.
After the announcement of the result, the counselling process will start. The counselling process will be conducted course-wise and will include a Descriptive Test, Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI).

MGU CAT 2024 Normalization of Score
The normalization process to be implemented shall be adjust for location and scale difference of score distributions across different forms and the scale scores obtained by this process shall be converted into a percentile for the purpose of short listing.

Allotment to all the courses will be done based on merit list which will be prepared by Mahatma Gandhi University after the declaration of result.

- The marks scored in the Entrance Exam + the marks in GD/Interview/Descriptive exam/Qualifying examination marks converted to 20 (Total mark converted into 1000).
- The bonus marks/weightage marks/Handicap mark.
A+B will be the index marks.
MGU CAT 2024 Counselling
Rank list and the lists of eligible candidates for admission as per merit and reservation will be published separately on the university admission portal. Eligible candidates will be called for the counselling process. Candidates who failed to report to the counselling will be treated as non-joined and further claim for admission from these students will not be entertained.
Candidates should produce the following documents in original at the time of counselling:
