AP EDCET 2025 Exam Pattern

The AP EDCET 2025 exam pattern will be released by the Andhra Pradesh State Council for Higher Education (APSCHE) on the official website cets.apsche.ap.gov.in/EDCET. The question paper will contain 150 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) to be attempted in 2 hours.

The question paper is divided into three sections: Part A, Part B, and Part C. The medium of the question paper is bilingual, in both English and Telugu, except for English Methodology. Candidates can opt to take the exam in Urdu language only at the Kurnool test center.

APSCHE has declared the schedule for the 2025 AP Common Entrance Tests from 2nd May to 25th June, 2025.

Marking Scheme

Candidates will be allotted +1 mark for correct attempts. No negative marking is set for any incorrect answers in the exam.

Parts A and B consist of 60 and 40 marks with the same number of questions respectively. Candidates can choose any one subject from Part C: Mathematics, Physical Sciences, Biological Sciences, Social Studies, or English.

Syllabus

The section-wise AP EDCET 2025 syllabus is released on the official brochure. The syllabus is based on graduate-level knowledge and covers questions from degree subjects such as BA, B.Com, and B.Sc.

The official authorities have also uploaded a free AP EDCET 2024 mock test series for preparation.

Qualifying Marks

The qualifying marks in the AP EDCET Entrance Test for all candidates, except SC/ST, are 37 out of total marks, which is 25%. Candidates will be allotted +1 mark for correct attempts, and no negative marking is set for incorrect answers.

Sectional Time Limits

There are no sectional time limits in the Andhra Pradesh Education Common Entrance Test (AP EDCET). Candidates can manage questions across all sections as per their time and convenience. The total time to complete the test is 2 hours.

Changes in Exam Pattern

The exam pattern for AP EDCET 2025 is prescribed by the exam conducting authority, Andhra University, Visakhapatnam, ahead of the exam. In the last 2-3 sessions, there have been no major changes in the AP EDCET exam pattern.

In 2021, the AP EDCET examination was conducted in online mode as a computer-based test instead of the traditional pen-paper style.

The AP EDCET 2025 exam pattern is based on a single offline paper. The exam is conducted in pen-paper mode.

The exam has 150 objective questions divided into 3 parts - Part A, Part B, and Part C. Part A and Part B are compulsory and common for all aspirants. There is no choice of subjects for the first 2 parts. In Part C, aspirants can choose any one subject out of the 5 subjects available in the methodology.

Part A: General English

This section tests the candidate's knowledge of the English language. It contains 25 questions, with 1 mark for each right answer. The maximum obtainable marks in Part A are 25.

Part B: General Knowledge and Teaching Aptitude

This section assesses the aspirant's General Knowledge and Teaching Aptitude. There are 15 questions about General Knowledge of 1 mark each and 10 questions about Teaching Aptitude. Students must select the most appropriate alternative out of 4 options available as their answer.

Part C: Methodology Subject

In this section, a candidate has to choose 1 subject from the Part C Methodology. It evaluates the candidate's aptitude in the special subject chosen. It comprises 100 questions and total obtainable marks are 100.

Aspirants must choose any one of the following subjects:

  • Mathematics
  • Physical Sciences (Physics and Chemistry)
  • Biological Sciences (Botany and Zoology)
  • Social Studies (Geography, History, Civics and Economics)
  • English

AP EDCET 2025 Marking Scheme

The marking scheme of AP EDCET 2025 is as follows:

  • 1 mark will be awarded for marking every accurate answer.
  • There will be no penalty for incorrect or wrong answers i.e. negative marking is not applicable.
  • No mark will be deducted from the total score of the aspirant for leaving a question blank or not attempting it.
  • If two options are marked as answers, it will be considered as a wrong answer.

AP EdCET Qualifying Marks

The qualifying marks in the Entrance Test for all candidates (except SC/ST) are 37 out of total marks (i.e. 25%). For the candidates belonging to SC/ST communities, there will be no qualifying marks for ranking. There will be no minimum qualifying marks for women in Physical Sciences / Mathematics methodologies.

AP EDCET 2025 Syllabus

The syllabus for AP EDCET exam is based on graduate level knowledge. It covers questions from topics of degree subjects (BA, B.Com, B.Sc, etc.) from the year 2019-2025. It is decided by the APSCHE for every subject.

Part A: English

The syllabus for Part A covers the English language section. Candidates must follow the right syllabus to prepare well for the exam.

AP EdCET Syllabus: Part A, Part B and Part C

Part A: English Language

Part A tests the candidate's grasp of the English language. The section checks the ability to understand a given passage and answer questions based on it.

Questions cover vocabulary, synonyms, antonyms, sentence correction, articles, prepositions, tenses and spellings. The paper also asks questions on transforming sentences into simple, complex and compound forms, as well as voices and direct and indirect speech.

Part B: General Knowledge and Teaching Aptitude

Part B assesses the candidate's general knowledge of the environment and its application to society. It also tests knowledge of current events and the application of observation and experience gained from a scientific outlook.

The section includes questions on India and its neighbouring countries. It covers History, Culture, Ecology, Geography, Economics, General Policy and Scientific Research.

Teaching Aptitude is evaluated through characteristics such as the ability to communicate, the ability to deal with children and the ability to recognise individual differences.

Part C: Subject Syllabus

The syllabus for Mathematics, Physical Sciences, Biological Sciences and Social Studies is at graduation level. It follows the revised common core of the degree syllabus.

English (Part C) has two parts:

  • 50 questions from the 10th class level syllabus. Topics include Grammar, Idioms and Phrases, Language functions, Elements of Phonetics, Writing skills, Reference skills and Study skills.
  • 50 questions from the syllabus for Optional English at BA degree level (BA Special English) or Modern Literature.
