| Statistic | 2026 Figure |

Girls achieved a pass percentage of 93.57%, which is more than 2 percentage points above the overall average of 91.37%. Female candidates have performed above the mean in every AP POLYCET cycle for which gender data is available.
The 2026 overall pass percentage of 91.37% is about 4 percentage points lower than 2025's record high of 95.36%. It is higher than both 2024 (87.61%) and 2023 (89.56%). The 2026 result ranks among the stronger cycles of the past five years, with the largest-ever qualified pool of 1,48,950 candidates competing for around 82,870 seats.
AP POLYCET 2026 Qualifying Marks
To be declared qualified in AP POLYCET 2026, candidates must meet the minimum marks set by SBTET AP, which vary by category. Meeting the qualifying bar earns a rank and entry into counselling, but it does not guarantee a seat. Admission depends on rank and seat availability in the preferred college and branch.
| Category | Minimum Qualifying Marks | Minimum Qualifying % |
|---|---|---|
| OC (Open / General Category) | 36 out of 120 | 30% |
| BC-A, BC-B, BC-C, BC-D, BC-E (Backward Classes) | 36 out of 120 | 30% |
| EWS (Economically Weaker Section) | 36 out of 120 | 30% |
| SC (Scheduled Caste) | No minimum — all appeared candidates receive a rank | – |
| ST (Scheduled Tribe) | No minimum — all appeared candidates receive a rank | – |
SC and ST candidates who appear for the exam automatically receive a state rank and a category rank, and can participate in counselling regardless of their score. There is no qualifying bar for these categories in the result stage — eligibility depends only on seat availability during counselling rounds.
AP POLYCET is a 120-mark paper with questions from Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry for engineering diploma streams. There is no negative marking. Every correct answer earns one mark. OC, BC, or EWS candidates who scored 36 or more are qualified. SC or ST candidates are qualified for counselling with any score.
Frequently Asked Questions
Ques. I scored 35 marks in AP POLYCET 2026 — am I qualified?
Ans. If you belong to OC, BC, or EWS, 35 marks falls one short of the 36-mark qualifying threshold — so you would not receive a rank and cannot participate in 2026 counselling. If you belong to SC or ST, you are automatically qualified regardless of marks, as long as you appeared for the exam.
Ques. Does qualifying AP POLYCET 2026 guarantee admission to a polytechnic?
Ans. No. Qualifying earns a rank and makes a candidate eligible for counselling. An actual seat depends on rank, category, the college and branch chosen in web options, and seat availability. With about 1,48,950 qualifiers and around 82,870 seats available, roughly 66,000 qualified candidates will not receive a seat — so filling realistic, diverse web options across multiple colleges is very important.
AP POLYCET 2026 Cutoff
The AP POLYCET cutoff operates at two levels: the qualifying cutoff — the minimum marks to receive a rank in the result, and the admission cutoff (closing rank) — the rank of the last candidate allotted a seat in a specific college and branch during counselling.
The qualifying cutoff for AP POLYCET 2026 is 36 marks out of 120 (30%) for OC, BC, and EWS candidates. SC and ST candidates have no qualifying minimum.
The admission cutoff (closing ranks) for AP POLYCET 2026 will be available after each counselling round. Phase 1 seat allotment is scheduled for 6 July 2026 — closing ranks from Round 1 will be published shortly after that. The key factors that shape the admission cutoff each year are:
- Number of candidates qualified
- Total seats available across colleges
- Category-wise reservation quotas
- Candidate preferences in web options
- Previous year closing ranks
AP POLYCET 2026 Cutoff: Factors That Decide Closing Ranks
The closing rank for a college and branch depends on several factors. These factors decide how strict or relaxed the cutoff will be.
- Number of qualified candidates: More qualified candidates means more competition. This leads to stricter, lower-numbered closing ranks.
- Total seats available: More seats means relaxed, higher-numbered closing ranks. More candidates can get in.
- College type (Government vs Private): Government polytechnic seats are far more competitive. Their closing ranks are stricter.
- Branch / Trade: High-demand branches like CSE, ECE, EEE, and Civil have stricter cutoffs. Low-demand trades are more accessible.
- Category reservation: SC and ST categories have more relaxed closing ranks compared to OC for the same college and branch.
- Counselling round: Closing ranks typically relax in Round 2 and the spot round as top-tier seats fill up.
With 1,48,950 candidates qualified and around 82,870 seats available in 2026, roughly 66,000 qualified students will not receive an allotment in Phase 1. If you do not get your preferred seat — or any seat — in Phase 1, you can participate in the internal sliding round and the spot round that SBTET runs for vacant seats. Check polycetap.nic.in after 6 July for round-wise closing ranks.
AP POLYCET 2026 Seat Matrix
Around 82,870 seats are available across 267 polytechnic colleges in Andhra Pradesh for AP POLYCET 2026 admissions — 88 government polytechnics and 179 private polytechnics.
| College Type | Number of Colleges | Approximate Seats |
|---|---|---|
| Government Polytechnic Colleges | 88 | ~18,141 |
| Private Polytechnic Colleges | 179 | ~64,729 |
| Total | 267 | ~82,870 |
Diploma programmes available through AP POLYCET include Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE), Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), Computer Engineering, Chemical Engineering, and several non-engineering trades such as Commercial and Computer Practice, Garment Technology, and Modern Office Management.
Seats at each college and branch are distributed across OC, BC (sub-categories A through E), SC, ST, EWS, and PH reservation quotas in line with AP government norms. Government college seats are in very high demand — only around 18,141 government seats are available against the large qualified pool of 1,48,950 students. Private polytechnic seats are far more numerous and represent the primary access point for most candidates. Fill as many web options as you can — both government and private, across multiple branches — to maximise your chances of securing at least one seat in Phase 1.
What to Do After AP POLYCET 2026 Result: Counselling Process
Qualified candidates must go through the centralized AP POLYCET 2026 counselling process run by SBTET Andhra Pradesh to secure a diploma seat. The entire process is online. Here is what you need to do, step by step.
Step 1 — Register for counselling and pay the fee: Log in to the counselling portal and register using your hall ticket number and rank card details. Pay the counselling fee online. The deadline is today — 30 June 2026. If you have not registered yet, go to polycetap.nic.in immediately.
Step 2 — Certificate verification: After registering, attend certificate verification at your designated centre — this window is open until 1 July 2026. Carry originals and self-attested photocopies of: your AP POLYCET 2026 rank card and hall ticket, Class 10 marksheet and pass certificate, caste certificate (SC / ST / BC / EWS candidates), income certificate if applicable, Aadhar card, and passport-size photographs.
Step 3 — Fill web options (choice filling): After certificate verification, log in and submit your preferred colleges and branches in order of preference — from most preferred to least. Web options are open from 29 June to 3 July 2026. You can modify your preferences multiple times within this window. Fill as many options as possible — a longer list improves your chances of being allotted a seat you are satisfied with, even if your top choices do not come through.
Step 4 — Use the correction window: On 4 July 2026, SBTET opens a one-day correction window. Use it to review and make final changes to your web options before they are locked for the allotment algorithm.
Step 5 — Phase 1 seat allotment: The Phase 1 seat allotment result will be published on 6 July 2026. Log in to check your allotted college and branch. If satisfied, proceed to self-reporting. If you want a better seat, you can choose to float to Round 2 — SBTET will announce that process after Phase 1 wraps up.
Step 6 — Report to the allotted college: Self-reporting at the allotted college takes place from 7 to 10 July 2026. Visit the college with all original documents and complete admission formalities including fee payment and document submission. Missing this window can result in cancellation of your allotment.
What Happens After Phase 1 Seat Allotment?
If a candidate does not receive a seat in Phase 1, SBTET AP usually conducts an internal sliding round and a spot round for vacant seats. These rounds begin after Phase 1 self-reporting concludes.
Candidates who do not get an allotment, or who decline their Phase 1 seat, should monitor the official website for Round 2 and spot round schedules. These rounds typically start within a couple of weeks of Phase 1 completion and provide another opportunity for admission.
