BIT MCA 2024 Eligibility Criteria
BIT MCA eligibility criteria are the minimum requirements a student must meet before applying for BIT MCA 2024. Candidates must have a minimum of 55% marks on average in graduation (50% for SC/ST/PwD).
The eligible degree must be in BCA, B.Sc. in Computer Science, B.Sc. in Information Technology, or B.Sc. in Computer Applications. Not meeting the eligibility criteria can lead to the cancellation of a candidate's application at any stage of the BIT MCA 2024 admission process.

Who Can Apply
Candidates must have passed Mathematics, Computer Science, or Information Practices as one of the subjects in Class 12 or an equivalent examination. The Bachelor's degree must be from a university incorporated by an act of the central or state legislatures in India, or an institution deemed to be a university under the UGC Act, 1956.
The degree must entail a minimum of three years of education after completing higher secondary schooling (10+2+3 system). Candidates must have one of the following qualifications:
- Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA)
- B.Sc. in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Electronics
- B.Sc. with Mathematics or Statistics as one of the subjects at the graduate level
Marks Required
Applicants with the above qualifications must have a minimum of 55% (50% for SC/ST/PwD) marks on average in graduation. The marks are calculated as the average of the marks obtained in all subjects in which the applicant has appeared.
Candidates with B.Sc. Honors must have a minimum of 55% (50% for SC/ST/PwD) marks on average in their Honours subject.
Final Year Students
Candidates appearing for the final examinations of their Bachelor's program in 2024 can also apply. They must have obtained the required marks based on the latest available grades or marks at the time of applying.
If selected, such candidates can join the program provisionally. At the time of document verification, the applicant must submit an original certificate from the Principal of the Institute stating that:
- By June 30, 2024, the candidate would have appeared for the examination in all subjects required for obtaining the Bachelor's degree.
- The candidate had obtained the requisite marks or equivalent, based on the latest available grades or marks.
Eligibility for Foreign Candidates
Foreign candidates must have an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India. The same minimum marks criteria apply as for Indian candidates.
Reservation
SC/ST/PwD candidates receive a relaxation of 5% in the minimum marks required. The minimum aggregate required for these categories is 50% in graduation.
Admission Process
Eligible candidates who successfully clear the entrance exam will be invited for admission to the 3-year (6-semester) Full-Time MCA degree course at BIT Mesra and its campuses. The admission is provisional for final year students until they meet all eligibility requirements.

Eligibility for Distance Learning Candidates
Candidates with qualifications from correspondence or distance learning programs are eligible only under specific conditions.
- The program must be accepted by the DEC-IGNOU.
- The candidate must have passed the qualifying test at the time of application with an average of at least 55% marks (50% for SC / ST / PwD), calculated as per item (4 or 5) above.
- Photocopies of the pass certificate, mark sheets of the qualifying examination, and proof of the program's recognition by the DEC-IGNOU on the letterhead of the Institute/College/University must be enclosed with the application.
Candidates appearing in distance learning programs whose results are yet to be declared are not eligible to apply.
Eligibility for Candidates with Foreign Diplomas
Candidates with foreign diplomas must check the EdCIL website for equivalence at http://www.edcil.co.in. If required, they should obtain an equivalence certificate from the evaluation division of the AIU at http://www.aiuweb.org.
If a Board or University awards grades instead of marks, equivalent marks are calculated based on the procedure prescribed by that Board or University. If no scheme for converting CGPA into equivalent marks exists, equivalence is established by dividing the obtained CGPA by the maximum possible CGPA and multiplying the result by 100.
At any level of study (class X, class XII, or graduation), a candidate must have passed all required subjects at that level from the same Board or University.
Selection Procedure
Provisional selection is based on marks obtained in the MCA 2024 Online Entrance Test conducted by the Institute.
Candidates called for document verification are offered admission subject to fulfillment of eligibility conditions. Waitlisted candidates are called for verification and admission against vacant seats, with notification made only on the Institute website as web notifications. No separate intimation is sent to candidates.
Cancellation of Admission Offer: Admission is automatically canceled in the following cases:
- If any information in the application form is found incorrect or missing.
- If the candidate fails to submit the final degree or qualifying examination in time as stipulated, or fails to secure minimum eligible marks in the degree or qualifying examination.
Reservations
The Institute follows reservations as given below for its MCA program.
- For programs supported by State Governments, reservation of the State quota follows State Government norms.
- For all other programs, SC and ST reservation follows Central Govt. statutory norms (SC - 15% & ST - 7.5%).
- The Institute observes statutory reservation for Persons with Disability (5%).
- Up to 1 seat at all Campuses is reserved for Sons or Daughters of Kashmiri Migrants who are otherwise eligible.
- Up to 6% of seats at Off Campuses are reserved for sons and daughters of BIT employees who otherwise qualify.
- At all Campuses, 50% of total seats are reserved for candidates who have passed or appear for a qualifying examination (graduation) from the state in which the Campus is situated. Eligibility for this is decided based on the position of the College where the candidate has passed or appears for the qualifying examination.
