Overview

The IIT Bombay has released the CEED Result 2026 on 4th March 2026 on its official website. The candidates can download their CEE 2026 Scorecard by using their User Id and Password. 

The CEED 2026 scorecard will be available for download from 10 March 2026 till 31 July 2026. The scorecard will be valid for one year from the date of declaration. No hard copy of the CEED scorecard will be sent to candidates.

The Part-A marks will be displayed for all candidates who appeared in CEED 2026, while Part-B marks will be available only for shortlisted candidates. Only those who are shortlisted will be assigned a rank.

  • The CEED 2026 Part-A cutoff was released on February 5, 2026, on the official website.
  • It was announced in terms of mean and standard deviation, i.e., 39.35 and 16.89, respectively, which are used to calculate the cutoff marks for Part-A.

The IIT Gandhinagar has been added as a new participating institute in the CEED exam on 4th March.-

Key Summary

CEED exam is held once a year for M.Des and PhD admissions at IITs, IISc & select institutes. Last year CEED statistics show that 5090 students registered, 4371 appeared and 1848 students qualified.

  • The CEED 2026 exam date is January 18, 2026 (9 AM – 12 Noon). The official Notification has been released on October 1, 2025 (by IIT Bombay).
  • The CEED Registration start on the 1st October 2025 and end on 31st October 2025 (late fee till 7th November).
  • The CEED Application Fee for General is ₹4000, Women/SC/ST/PwD is ₹2000 and Late fee is ₹500
  • The CEED exam has 2 parts: Part A (1 hour, 150 marks): NAT, MSQ, MCQ (objective) and Part B (2 hours, 100 marks): Sketching, Creativity, Form & Visual Sensitivity, Problem Identification (subjective).
  • You do not require any age/attempt limit for CEED 2026. The final year students (graduating by July 2026) are eligible.

Ques: What is the last date for CEED application 2026?

Ans: The CEED 2026 registration last date with a regular fee is October 31, 2025, and the last date with a late fee is November 7, 2025. Registration for CEED 2026 is open from October 1, 2025.

Ques: What's Next After the CEED Entrance Exam?

Ans: After the CEED 2026 Entrance Exam, the results are announced on the official website ceed.iitb.ac.in. After the results are released:

  • Candidates are required to apply individually to the institutions of their choice using the CEED Score card.
  • Each Institute will have a separate application process, portfolio review, interview rounds, etc.
  • CEED does not conduct any joint counseling for the shortlisted candidates.

Ques: Does IIT accept CEED?

Ans: There are 10 participating institutes that accept the CEED score, including IISc Bangalore, IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Jodhpur, IIT Kanpur, IIT Roorkee, IIITDM Jabalpur and IIITDM Kancheepuram. There are also other CEED result-sharing institutes that offer admission based on CEED scores.

CEED Exam 2026 Eligibility Criteria

There are certain conditions that a candidate has to fulfill before filling the application form. CEED 2026 Eligibility Criteria lays out various academic and age limit conditions as given below.

  • Age limit: No age limit
  • Number of attempts: No restriction on the number of attempts
  • Accepted degree types: Any recognized 4-year or 3+2 years (after 10+2 level) or 3-year degree/diploma/postgraduate degree program after 10+2
  • Final year students: Final year candidates or those awaiting results can apply for CEED 2026, provided they show proof of eligibility during admissions
  • GD Arts diploma program (10+5 level): Candidates passing the program by July 2026 are eligible

CEED Application Fee

A registration fee of INR 2,000 is applicable for all the women candidates, INR 2,000 for SC/ST and PwD candidates and INR 4,000 for all other candidates.

The application fee is non-refundable and non-transferable. CEED 2026 will also provide an opportunity to fill out the application form after the regular closing date by paying a late fee of INR 500 along with the application fee.

Ques: Who is eligible for CEED exam 2026?

Ans: Candidates must have a graduate/postgraduate/diploma for a minimum of three years after the 10+2 level, or must be appearing for the final examination of such a program by July 2026, or must have passed the GD Arts diploma program (10+5 level) by July 2026.

Ques: What is the registration fee for CEED exam?

Ans: For CEED 2026 registration, the fee is Rs. 4,000 for all other candidates, but Rs. 2,000 for women and SC/ST/PwD candidates. If applying after the regular closing date, a late fee of Rs. 500 is added to these amounts.

CEED 2026 Part B is expected to be of a total of 100 marks and the maximum time will be 2 hours. It will consist of 5 questions, which will test design, drawing, and writing skills.

  • The part B questions will be displayed on the computer screen
  • The answers should be written/drawn in the answer book provided by the invigilator.
  • The Part B Answer booklet will be collected after the examination.
  • All the questions are mandatory in this part.

Ques: What is the structure of CEED exam?

Ans: The CEED (Common Entrance Exam for Design) exam pattern consists of two parts, A and B, for a total duration of three hours.

CEED 3 Month Preparation Plan

The CEED exam is held in January every year. So you have 3 to 3.5 months to prepare for CEED 2026. Keeping this in mind, we have prepared a study plan. Few things that you must note are:

Eligibility

CEED Eligibility Criteria 2025 has already been released by IIT Bombay. CEED Application 2025 is ongoing. Candidate must check the information brochure by IIT Bombay for information related to CEED 2025There are also no restrictions on the maximum number of attempts by candidates. A candidate, if found failing to satisfy even one of these criteria, will not be considered for admission and his application will be rejected.

CEED Eligibility

CEED 2025 Eligibility

  • Candidates must have completed a degree / diploma / post graduate degree programme of minimum 3 years ( after 10 + 2 level) 

OR

  • Must be appearing for the final examination of such a program by July 2024

OR 

  • Must have passed the GD Arts diploma programme (10 +5 level) by July 2024. 

Eligibility criteria for admission to various institutes may differ from the eligibility criteria for appearing for CEED. Before applying for CEED, candidates are advised to check whether they meet the required eligibility criteria for admission to various institutes. 

Note: There is NO age limit to appear for CEED. Besides, a candidate can appear for CEED any number of times.

CEED 2025 Eligibility Criteria for Participating Institutes

Different CEED 2025 Participating institutes have different eligibility criteria for admissions in the desired courses. The candidates must satisfy eligibility Criteria of CEED 2025 for different institutes to seek admissions in their desired institutes. CEED Eligibility for the various participating institutes is summarised below:

IISc Bangalore

  • A recognized Bachelor’s degree in engineering / design / architecture. 

IIT Bombay

Candidate should have a minimum of 55% (50% marks in case of SC / ST / PwD) or equivalent grades in the qualifying degree for individual streams: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Design / Engineering / Architecture / Interior Design: 10 +2 + 4 years (minimum 4 years Bachelor’s course). 
  • B. Plan is considered equivalent to B.Arch.
  • Four year B.Sc (Engg) course after HSC considered equivalent to BE / B.Tech. 
  • Professional Diploma in Design: 10 + 2 + 4 years (minimum 4 year diploma program). 
  • BFA (4 year professional program with entry after 10 +2) 
  • GD Art (4 year program after 1 year foundation. Minimum entry requirements are 10th pass).

IIT Delhi

  • Programme offers 20 seats to students seeking admission in M.Des and belonging to B.Tech, B.Des and B.Arch backgrounds. 
  • Must have a valid CEED score; GATE score will not be considered. 

IIT Guwahati

  • 4 year Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Design / Engineering / Architecture / Interior Design or a Design related field with a minimum CPI of 6.0 out of 10 or minimum 60% marks. 
  • 4 year Professional Diploma in Design of NID or Professional Diploma of CEPT (5 year programme) with a minimum CPI of 6.0 out of 10 minimum 60% marks. 
  • Relaxation for SC / ST / PwD Candidates: The CPI or percentage marks in above mentioned eligibility requirements will be relaxed by 0.5 CPI or by 5% marks for SC / ST / PwD candidates. That is, the SC / ST / PwD candidates should have a minimum CPI of 5.5 out of 10 or minimum 55% of marks in their qualifying degree. 

IIT Hyderabad

For M.Des:

  • Must have a valid CEED score
  • A minimum of 55% marks (50% marks in case of SC/ST) or equivalent grades in the qualifying examination given below –
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering / Architecture / Design/ Interior Design or equivalent (4 years duration after 10+2).
  • Professional Diploma in Design (NID/CEPT or equivalent of 4 years duration after 10+2).
  • B.F.A. (4 year professional programme, after 10+2).
  • G.D. Art (5 year programme after 10th) with one year post qualification, professional experience.
  • Master’s degree in Arts / Science / Computer Applications (2 year programme after10+2+3).

For PhD:

  • M.Des. / M.Arch. / M.Tech. / M.Phil. / MFA / M.A / M.Sc / Postgraduate Diploma in Design of NID, Ahmedabad OR equivalent
  • Also, either one of the following –
  • A minimum of 55 percent marks (50% marks for SC/ST) in the final academic year of the programme.
  • A minimum of 55 percent marks (50% marks for SC/ST) in aggregate or as specified by the university.
  • A first class as specified by the university
  • A minimum CPI of 5.5 (5.0 CPI for SC/ST) on the scale of 10; with corresponding proportional requirements when the scales are other than on 10
  • All candidates are required to upload one zip file containing the following:
  • (a) Ph.D proposal
  • (b) Portfolio of work and/or publications

IIT Kanpur

  • A bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Design or Architecture
  • A valid CEED/GATE score are eligible to apply for the two-year Master of Design Programme.
  • Candidates holding degrees in Fine Arts or Interior Design are NOT eligible to apply.

IITDM 

Admissions to Master level program shall be based on the performance in the qualifying examinations, those of are CEED or GATE score of the candidate(s). In addition, the Selection Committeee may deem it fit to call some or all the candidates for the written test and / or interview.

 ​For M.Des (Regular and Sponsored): 

B.Tech / B.E. / B.Arch / B.Des. / B.FA / M.Sc / MA / MCA with 

  • A minimum of 60% marks OR a CPI / CGPA of 6.0 (on the scale of 10.00) shall be required in the Qualifying Degree (B.Tech / B.Des. or equivalent). Relaxation for reserved category as per Govt. of India norms. 

  • For admission to masters program under regular category qualifying marks / certificate in GATE / CEED / (CSIR / UGC JRF / NET) or equivalent examination conducted at national level will be essential. The candidate should have valid GATE / CEED / UGC JRF

  • M.Des. with minimum marks / CPI in Qualifying Degree

  • A minimum of 65 percent marks or a CPI / CGPA of 6.5 (on the scale of 10) shall be required at the master’s level qualifying examination.

  • Relaxation for reserved category as per Govt. of India norms. 

  • Candidates who are on permanent role in NITs, IITs, Central Universities, Govt. Universities, Defence R&D organization, PSU for at least two years shall be eligible to apply for admission under the category of External Registration Programme.

IIT Roorkee

The Master of Design programme at IIT Roorkee is aimed at providing an engaging environment to foster creativity and skills through an interdisciplinary process of teaching and training.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidates belonging to the General, GEN-EWS and OBC categories must have secured at least 60% marks or CGPA of 6.00 on a 10-point scale at the qualifying degree level.
  • Candidates belonging to the SC/ST/PD category must have secured 55% or 5.50 CGPA on a 10-point scale.

IIT Jabalpur

B.Design:

  • Candidates must have qualified CEED 2025
  • There will be a personal interview, if the candidate passes the procedure they will be able to qualify for admission.

M.Design:

CEED Seat Reservation

CEED 2025 Seat Reservation

There is a provision for reservation of certain number of seats for candidates belonging to various reserved categories. The category rank for CEED 2025 will be prepared based on the category provided by the candidate in CEED 2025 Application form.

  • A candidate who seeks admission under Scheduled Category (SC) Category or Scheduled Tribe (ST) Category will be required to submit the requisite certificate issued by a competent authority along with the CEED 2025 application form for admission. If the candidate fails to provide any applicable certificates, his candidature may be liable for rejection.
  • A candidate who seeks admission under the Other Backward Classes (OBC) Category will be required to submit an OBC certificate, along with the CEED application form for admission. In case of non-compliance of OBC non-creamy layer certificate with the prescribed format, the candidate will be considered in the General Category.

No opportunity will be given to the candidate for late submission under any circumstances. Hence, candidates are advised to submit all necessary documents on time.

  • For Person with Disability (PwD) candidates who may have any category of disability (such as blindness or low vision, hearing impairment, locomotor disability or cerebral palsy), the candidate will be eligible for benefit only in case they have at least 40% permanent physical impairment in relation to a body part/system/extremity/ whole body.
  • Such candidates will be required to submit, along with the Application Form, the certificate of disability from a Government Medical Board. These candidates should be fit to pursue the programme at the time of admission as well.
  • The percentage of disability of candidates selected for admission under PwD Category will also be required to be certified by a Medical Board. This Medical Board must be one that has been constituted by the admitting institute.

Some important points to be noted by the candidates are:

  • The provisions for the reserved seats mentioned are subject to modification in accordance with any Government order.
  • It will entirely be the responsibility of a candidate to prove their eligibility for admission in terms of minimum educational qualifications and other parameters as well as for claiming reservation under a specific category.

Exam Pattern

CEED 2024 exam pattern has been mandated by the official of IIT Bombay. The pattern for CEED 2024 entrance exam is available in Section 1.1. in PDF format at ceed.iitb.ac.in. The examination is held in two parts- Part-A and Part-B. It is necessary to attempt all questions from both parts in CEED 2024 examination. A time allotment of 1 hour for Part A and 2 hours for Part B has been set by the official.

CEED is a national-level entrance examination conducted by IIT Bombay on behalf of the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India to offer admission to M.Des and Ph.D. programs in design at renowned institutes like IISc Bangalore, IIT Bombay, IIT Guwahati, IIT Kanpur, IIT Hyderabad, and many more.

CEED 2024 Exam Pattern

CEED 2024 consists of two parts. The type of questions in both parts will be different.

  • CEED 2024 Part A contains 100 questions
  •  The duration allotted is 1 hour. 
  • The nature of questions are objective: numerical answer type (NAT), multiple choice question (MCQ), and multiple select questions (MSQ) (MSQ).
  •  Part-A answers must be typed into a computer. These will be design aptitude questions that will assess candidates' visual and spatial ability, environmental and social awareness, analytical and logical reasoning, language, observation, and design sensitivity.

CEED 2024 Important Instructions

  • Participants in the test should bring their own pencils, sketch pens, crayons, poster colours, and materials.
  • Part A and Part B questions will appear on the computer screen. Part A questions must be answered on a computer by candidates. Part B answers, on the other hand, must be answered in the answer book.
  • Part A will be given blank paper sheets for rough work, and candidates must provide the rough sheets to the invigilator after the exam.

The CEED Cutoff 2026 of Part A on 4th February 2026 by IIT Bomaby on its official website - ceed.iitb.ac.in/2026/.

The cutoff was released in the form of mean and standard deviation, with the mean score of Part A being 39.35 and the standard deviation being 16.89.

As per the CEED Cutoff of Part A, the expected cutoff of the different categories will be:

  • The General (CRL) category candidates need at least 47.80 marks in Part A to qualify.
  • Candidates belonging to the OBC or EWS category need around 43.02 marks to qualify.
  • Candidates from the SC, ST, or PwD category need at least 23.90 marks to qualify.

The final merit list will be prepared based on Part B scores because it covers 75% of the total score calculation. Candidates had to qualify for Part A to be eligible for evaluation of Part B.

What is the cutoff for CEED?

The CEED cutoff is the minimum score or rank a candidate must achieve in the CEED exam to qualify the exam and be eligible for admission to the M.Des and PhD Design programs at participating institutes like IITs and IISc.

The IIT Bombay releases the CEED cutoff of 2 type:

  • Qualifying Cutoff (Part A Cutoff): This is the minimum marks required to clear Part A of CEED.
  • Admission Cutoff (Institute-wise Cutoff): After qualifying CEED, each institute releases its own Opening and Closing Rank, which is the final cutoff for admission.

IIT Bombay released CEED 2026 Results on March 4, 2026. Candidates can check their results on ceed.iitb.ac.in using their registered Email ID and Password. The CEED 2026 scorecard will be available for download from March 10 to July 31, 2026.

The CEED 2026 results include the marks for Part A for all candidates who appeared for the exam. However, the marks for Part B will only be revealed to those candidates who have qualified by meeting the Part A cutoff. To determine the final CEED score, 25% of the weightage is given to Part A and 75% to Part B.
