FRI MSc 2024 Application Form

The FRI MSc 2024 application form is expected to release on February 6, 2024. The application process is offline, and candidates must download the form from the official website, fridu.edu.in.

Check the admit card PDF you downloaded before the exam — your roll number is printed at the top. If you no longer have the file, write to enquires@fridu.edu.in with your application number and date of birth and they will share it over email.

FRI MSc 2026 Seat Distribution

A total of 155 seats are on offer through FRI MSc 2026. The seats are distributed across four courses.

Minimum Qualifying Marks

50% of the total marks is the minimum qualifying mark for General and EWS candidates. The threshold is lower for other categories.

• General and EWS: 50%
• OBC-NCL: 45%
• SC, ST and PwD: 40%

You also need to clear the same percentage threshold in your Bachelor's degree to be eligible.

Negative Marking in the Entrance Exam

Yes, there is negative marking in the FRI MSc entrance exam. One-fourth of the marks allotted to a question are deducted for every wrong answer.

Unattempted questions carry zero marks — no penalty for leaving a question blank.

Merit List and Rank

FRI prepares course-wise merit lists, not a single list for all four MSc courses. Course allotment happens at counselling based on your rank and the preference order you filled at the application stage.

Scoring 50% (or the applicable category threshold) only puts you on the merit list. Your actual seat depends on your rank within that list and the seats available in your course and category.

Many candidates who qualify do not get seats because the merit list rank settles above the seat count.

FRI MSc Counselling Process

FRI counselling is held offline on the Dehradun campus. There is no online or video-call option — you have to be present in person on the reporting date.

If you do not get your first-choice course at counselling, you can accept the allotted course and see if an upgrade is possible in Round 2, or decline the seat entirely. If you decline, your name is removed from the regular list and you lose your chance for that admission cycle.

Round 2 and Waiting List

The Round 2 cutoff usually slips a little — meaning a higher rank number can still get a seat — because students allotted in Round 1 sometimes do not report for admission. Those vacant seats then move down the merit list in Round 2.

If your name is in the waiting list, you will be called for Round 2 of counselling if seats remain vacant after Round 1. Waiting list candidates are called in strict rank order — if your rank is reached and a seat is available, you get an allotment offer on the spot.

Result Validity and Re-Evaluation

The FRI MSc result is valid only for the 2026-2028 admission cycle. If you do not take admission this year, you have to re-appear in the next entrance exam.

FRI does not provide a re-evaluation window for the entrance test. If you find a data error on your scorecard — wrong category, name typo or missing rank — write to enquires@fridu.edu.in within three days with supporting documents such as your admit card and Class 10 certificate.

FRI MSc Selection Process

No. FRI MSc admission is purely merit-based on the entrance exam score. There is no personal interview, group discussion or any additional round after the written test.
