HPCET 2025 Eligibility Criteria
The Himachal Pradesh Technical University (HPTU) sets the eligibility criteria for HPCET 2025. The age limit for BPharm is 17 years. Candidates must be Indian residents.
General Eligibility for BTech and BPharm
- Candidates must have passed Class 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering subjects, and Biology.
- General category candidates need a minimum of 45% marks.
- Reserved category candidates get a 5% relaxation, so they need 40% marks.
General Eligibility for MCA, MBA, and MBA (T&HM)
- Candidates must have passed B.E. / B.Tech. / B.Sc / B.Com. / B.A / B. Voc. / BCA with 50% marks.
- SC/ST/BPL category candidates can apply with 45% qualifying marks.
Some seats are reserved for minority or special category candidates. Candidates who believe they qualify for such reservation must check the official website for the complete claim process.

Lateral Entry for Engineering
Candidates can join the second year of some engineering degree programmes directly if they pursued the first year diploma course elsewhere. Candidates with a diploma who wish lateral entry must refer to the list of valid diploma courses for HPCET 2025.

HPCET 2025 Eligibility for Foreign Candidates and NRI
Foreign nationals and Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) can apply for HPCET 2025. They must check the eligibility criteria of different institutes and ensure they meet them.
NRIs and foreign students do not need to appear for the HPCET 2025 examination. Admission for them will be based on a merit list prepared from the marks obtained in the qualifying examination.
- The minimum eligibility criteria for NRI and foreign students are the same as those for Indian students for each program.
- An applicant is categorized as an NRI if they meet the definition given by the Income Tax Law of India.
- A foreign candidate must hold a valid foreign passport.
- The candidate must also possess a valid visa issued by a competent authority of the Indian Government, stating the reason for stay.
HPCET 2025 Reservation
Some seats are reserved under various quotas for different categories. Candidates must know the reservation scheme before applying.
The first category is the All India Quota (AIQ). Seats under this quota are filled by candidates from any State or Union Territory (UT), including Himachal Pradesh.
The second category is the HP State Quota. These seats are filled by students who hold a valid Himachali Bona Fide.
Seats are also reserved for NRI candidates and foreign nationals. Private institutions have management seats. Supernumerary and lateral entry seats are also available.

HPCET 2025 State Quota Seats
Seats under the Himachal Pradesh State Quota (HPSQ) are divided by vertical and horizontal reservation criteria. These divisions are based on minority categories and other special categories.
The HPSQ has 65% of total sanctioned seats. This includes one seat under the Beti Hai Anmol Scheme for female candidates who are the single child of their parents and hold a valid Himachal Pradesh state domicile.

Application Process
HPCET 2025 Application Form Release Date
The HPCET 2025 application form will be released soon on the official website by the 2nd week of March 2025. The exam is scheduled to be held on May 10, 2025 for all courses.
The registration process for the HPCET 2025 entrance exam will be completely online. To register for the first time, details like name, date of birth, and mobile number are required. After completing the verification process, a login ID and password will be provided to register for the exam.

Eligibility Criteria
The applicant should be an Indian resident. The common eligibility criteria for all courses under HPCET 2025 are given below.
For B.Tech/B. Pharmacy Courses
- The candidate must have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination from a recognized board with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one of the Chemistry/Biotechnology/Biology/Technical Vocational subjects.
- The candidate must have obtained at least 45% marks (40% for reserved category candidates) in the above subjects taken together.
For MBA/MCA Courses
- The candidate must have a bachelor's degree or equivalent from a recognized university/institution.
- For MBA, the candidate must have obtained at least 50% marks (45% for reserved category candidates) in the qualifying examination.
- For MCA, the candidate must have studied Mathematics as a subject in 10+2 or graduation and obtained at least 50% marks (45% for reserved category candidates) in the qualifying examination.
How to Apply
Students are instructed to read the information brochure entirely and carefully before filling the HPCET 2025 application form. The form can only be filled out in the online mode and the payment also needs to be online or through challan. Incomplete application forms will not be accepted. The hard copy of the form is to be sent to the university along with the required documents.

Step 1: Profile Management
- Visit the official website http://www.himtu.ac.in/.
- Register by clicking on "New Registration". Select the program or programs to apply for.
- Provide email address, mobile number, and date of birth.
- Set the profile password and click on "Submit".
Step 2: Form Filling
Enter personal details such as name, date of birth, gender, category, address, alternate contact details, father's name, mother's name, and Aadhar card number. Provide correct details relating to educational qualification. The details once entered cannot be edited later on, so fill in the details carefully. Three selections for examination centers also need to be filled.
Step 3: Upload of Documents
The scanned images of photograph, signature, and other documents should be in .jpg/.jpeg/.png/.pdf format only. Their sizes must be less than 100 KB.
Step 4: Application Fee Payment
Aspirants can deposit the fee through online mode using payment gateways like internet banking, debit card, credit card, or UPI.

The application fee set for different categories of students is as follows:
- INR 1600 for General category.
- INR 800 for SC/ST/BPL categories.
- For appearing in both papers, i.e., BTech and BPharm or MBA and MBA (T&HM), the payment is INR 3200 for general category.
- For appearing in both papers, the payment is INR 1600 for reserved categories.
Recent photograph, signature, and other documents must be uploaded within 100 KB of limited size.

HPCET 2024 Marking Scheme
HPCET 2024 has negative marking for incorrect answers. Selecting multiple responses for one question is treated as an incorrect response, and marks are deducted for it. Unanswered questions receive no marks and no penalty.
Each correct answer gives 4 marks. Each incorrect answer leads to a deduction of 1 mark.

HPCET 2024 Important Instructions
Candidates must follow certain guidelines to avoid exemption, delay, or debarring from the exam.
- HPCET 2024 will be conducted in the offline mode only. An OMR sheet will be given to candidates to mark the answers.
- The total time duration of the exam will be three hours and two hours for the MBA/MCA exams. Candidates must try to reach the examination hall at least 1 hour before the test.
- Candidates must remember to carry the original as well as the photocopy of their admit card and ID proof to enter the exam hall.
- For marking the responses, only blue or black ballpoint pen must be used. The circles must be filled as per the instructions provided in the OMR sheet.
- The questions will be given in English language only. Any alternate language mode or question paper will not be provided for the exam.
- Un-attempted questions will be marked as 0.
- Multiple responses to the same question will be regarded as incorrect and hence, will be subject to half a mark deduction.

HPCET 2024 Syllabus Overview
The HPCET 2024 syllabus has been released on the official website, himtu.ac.in. The syllabus for BTech and BPharm includes topics from Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Biology. For MBA and MCA, topics generally cover VARC, DILR, Quantitative Ability, and Computer Awareness.
Topics from the HPCET 2024 syllabus for BTech and BPharm can be covered by studying Arihant and NCERT textbooks. Physics and Mathematics are slightly tougher than Chemistry and Biology. Questions are expected to be more numerical in nature.
The HPCET 2024 syllabus for MCA and MBA has some similarities with the CAT 2024 syllabus. The VARC and DILR syllabi of CAT exam are more or less similar to that of HPCET exam. Building analytical skills is advised for answering these questions. Books like Quantitative Aptitude Quantum CAT Common Admission Tests for Admission Into IIMs, and A Modern Approach to Verbal & Non-Verbal Reasoning are recommended.

Candidates of HPCET 2025 must keep in mind these instructions before appearing in the examination:
- Candidates must ensure that the details such as Name, categories, etc. on HPCET 2025 e-Admit Card are correct. If there are any discrepancies, contact the Controller of Examination, H.P. Technical University immediately.
- The document is issued provisionally to the candidate subject to his/ her fulfilling the eligibility conditions at the time of admission.
- Candidates must reach the hall 1 hour prior to the commencement of exam
- Any candidate who does not provide a valid HPCET Admit card will not be allowed to take the test.

HPCET 2025 Code of Conduct
There are certain rules and regulations set by HIMTU that a candidate has to follow. Given below are the set of instructions that should be strictly kept in mind before and during the exam:
- Candidates must maintain silence in the examination hall and attend only to their question paper. Any conversation or disturbance etc. in the examination hall will be treated as misbehavior.
- If any candidate is found using unfair means or impersonating, it will lead to cancellation of candidature and the candidate will be liable to be debarred for future either permanently or for a specific period of time.
- Calculators, books, notebooks, log tables, electronic watches with a calculator, printed or written material, mobile phone, or any other devices, except the e-Admit Card with valid photo ID, will not be allowed inside the examination hall.
- Candidates must not remove or tear any pages from the test booklet. Removing pages from the test booklet will be treated as a criminal offense.
