This annual entrance test is a pathway for students who want research-oriented undergraduate studies at IIITH.

Exam Name Number of Times Conducted Per Year Mode of Exam
IIITH UGEE Once a Year Computer-Based Test (CBT)

There are no multiple attempts in a year for UGEE. Candidates must apply and appear for the exam in the same academic cycle.

UGEE vs JEE Difficulty

The IIITH Undergraduate Entrance Examination (UGEE) and the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main are both assessments for engineering aspirants in India. Both are considered important for admission.

IIITH UGEE vs JEE Main: Difficulty Comparison

IIITH UGEE is generally considered easier than JEE Main. JEE Main is regarded as one of the toughest engineering entrance exams in India.

Factor IIITH UGEE JEE Main
Overall Difficulty Generally considered easier Considered one of the toughest exams
Conceptual Depth Moderate (focuses on application) High (deep understanding required)
Problem Complexity Less complex, more focused on understanding and speed High complexity, requires advanced problem-solving skills
Competitiveness Lower competition compared to JEE High competition, with a large number of candidates
Question Style Emphasizes basic application of concepts and quick problem-solving Tests in-depth knowledge, covers a wide range of complex problems

JEE Main is typically harder because it involves more complex problem-solving and is highly competitive. JEE examines a wider and deeper level of comprehension, with greater emphasis on theoretical knowledge and higher-order problem-solving.

Candidates find IIITH UGEE questions faster and a bit easier to manage. JEE Main requires careful time management as it is more complex and questions must be answered within a limited time.

UGEE emphasizes concept comprehension and application of knowledge in a quicker pattern. JEE Main contains tougher questions demanding complete comprehension of intricate ideas.

IIITH UGEE Syllabus 2025

The IIITH UGEE 2025 has two segments: the Subject Proficiency Test (SUPR) and the Research Aptitude Test (REAP). These tests evaluate a candidate's research-based learning, logical ability, and problem-solving skills for admission to IIITH's B.Tech + MS (Dual Degree) courses.

  • Applicants are first filtered according to their SUPR score. Those who pass are then ranked based on their REAP score to select the shortlist for the interview.
  • Mathematics and Physics are the most challenging components of SUPR. REAP's volatile nature makes it difficult as well.
  • Success depends on both good subject knowledge (SUPR) and analytic ability (REAP).
