MP Board Class 10 Exam Pattern

The MP Board has revised the Class 10 exam pattern as per the New Education Policy. The revised pattern is available on the official website, mpbse.nic.in. Earlier, the board released the MPBSE 10th exam pattern with a 30% reduction in the syllabus.

The revised pattern introduced subjective, objective, and analytical types of questions in the question paper. For theoretical subjects, 80 marks are allotted to the theory paper and 20 marks to practical or internal assessment.

Question Typologies

As per the MP Board 10th exam pattern 2023, 40% of questions will be objective type, 40% will be subjective type, and the remaining 20% will be analytical. The time duration for theoretical exams is 3 hours, while practical exams will be 2 hours.

Students must score a minimum of 33 marks in subjects without practicals. For subjects with practicals, the minimum marks will differ with each subject.

Assessment Criteria

Marking will be done on the basis of the subjects offered in the MP Board 10th exam. The subjects are divided into languages and compulsory subjects.

Weightage of 30% in unit tests and 20% in internal assessment makes a total of 50% in the pre boards. The MPBSE 10th exam will consider the overall academic performance of the past three years.

No student will be detained under the latest schemes of the board exam for Class 10. If a student fails in any subject, he or she will be promoted to the next class based on grace marks. Candidates have to repeat a year in the same standard if they do not appear for any examination paper in the unit tests or pre boards.

Candidates appearing for boards privately have no internal assessment. They will be marked on the academic performance of the last year, on the average of the best of five marks. A grace mark of 33% will be given to students who fail to bring the minimum passing marks. If a student is not happy with the marks, they can sit for a written examination later.

English (Special) Marking Scheme

The English (Special) paper is divided into four topics. The total marks for the paper are distributed across these topics.

English (General) Marking Scheme

The English (General) paper has a different distribution of marks. The Prescribed Text Book carries the highest weightage in this paper.

MP Board Class 10 Important Books

NCERT books are considered good for the MP Board Exams. The MP state board textbooks cover the whole syllabus, but studying other textbooks is recommended to prepare for competitive and other relevant examinations.

(B) Internal Examination

MPBSE Class 10 Exam Pattern

The MP Board Class 10 question paper will have 40% objective questions, 40% subjective questions, and the remaining 20% analytical type questions. This new pattern has been applied for the academic year 2023.

Earlier, only 25% of the questions were objective. Each exam paper of 100 marks has a time duration of 3 hours.

Marking Scheme

The overall mark for each subject is 100. This includes 75 marks for the theory paper and 25 marks for practicals.

Passing Criteria

To pass the MP Board Class 10 examination, a candidate must score at least 33% marks in the exam. The candidate must also pass in at least five papers out of six.

Students need to score at least 33 percent marks in aggregate and in each subject to be considered passed.

Passing Marks for Different Paper Totals

Passing marks vary depending on the total marks of the paper. The passing marks for different paper totals are listed below.

For a paper of 80 marks, the passing marks are 27 in the theory papers conducted by the board. Marks out of 20 would be given by schools based on practical/project work and notebook.

Subjects and Syllabus

MP Board 10th syllabus of Hindi and English for Second and Third Language will be the same. Each student will have to appear for three compulsory subjects: Mathematics, Science, and Social Science.

An overall 30% of the syllabus has been reduced. Portions of general English, special English, Sanskrit, and mathematics have been deleted in the updated syllabus.

In general English, the deleted chapters include lesson 5- the sneeze, chapter 9- the tribute 1, chapter 10- the tribute 2, chapter 13- Opportunity for youth, and chapter 18- the tables turned.

Medium of Examination

The medium of English and Hindi is followed by the MP Board. Candidates can choose the language in which they want to write the examination.

Admit Card

Students will receive the admit card from the school administration. In case of any personal error on the admit card, students are requested to correct it through the MPONLINE portal.

MP Board Class X Exam Pattern

The MP Board Class X exam has a total of 500 marks. Students must take five subjects, which are divided into two groups.

Group (A) has two compulsory subjects. Group (B) has three subjects chosen from one of eight available groups.

Group (B) Subject Choices

Students must select three subjects from one of the following groups in Group (B).

Group (A) Compulsory Subjects

Group (A) includes two compulsory subjects for all students. Each subject carries 100 marks.

The passing requirement for each subject in Group (A) is 33% marks.

Internal Examination Details

Environmental Education and Disaster Management is compulsory for all faculties. This subject is assessed through an internal examination.

The theory portion is an external exam worth 50 marks. The project portion is an internal exam worth 50 marks. Marks for this subject are shown in a grading system.

Additional Subjects

Students may choose additional subjects under Group (C). These subjects are optional.

Each additional subject carries 100 marks. The passing requirement is 33 marks.

MP Board Class 10 Exam: Key Details
