RULET is an objective examination designed for candidates with no previous study of law. It covers legal aptitude and reasoning, in which candidates apply given legal principles to a set of facts, along with logical and analytical reasoning, general knowledge and current affairs, English language and comprehension, and general awareness of the Indian constitutional and social framework. The marking scheme, including any deduction for wrong answers, is set out in the information brochure published before the test. Scores are used to build a merit list for admission to the integrated law course offered at the University of Rajasthan, after which candidates complete counselling, document verification and fee payment within the notified deadlines. Reservation and category rules applicable in Rajasthan are applied at the allotment stage. The number of questions, duration, syllabus and admission timetable are notified afresh each year in the university's official brochure.
