UBSE Result 2026: Subject-wise Pass Percentage
UBSE released subject-wise pass percentage data for both Class 10 and Class 12 on April 25, 2026, as part of the main result announcement. The subject-wise breakdown shows which subjects had higher or lower pass rates across the state.
For Class 10, the core subjects are Hindi, English, Mathematics, Science, and Social Science, along with optional subjects based on the school.
For Class 12, subjects vary by stream.
UBSE Class 10 and Class 12 Subject Structure
The Uttarakhand Board of School Education (UBSE) conducts exams for Class 10 and Class 12. The subjects offered depend on the class and stream chosen by the student.
| Class | Stream | Key Subjects |
|---|---|---|
| Class 10 | General | Hindi, English, Mathematics, Science, Social Science |
| Class 12 | Science | Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics / Biology, English |
| Class 12 | Commerce | Accountancy, Economics, Business Studies, English |
| Class 12 | Arts | History, Geography, Political Science, Hindi, English |
Detailed subject-wise pass percentage figures will be available on the official UBSE portal at ubse.uk.gov.in once published. Check the board’s official bulletins and press releases for the most current breakdowns.
Typically, Mathematics and English tend to have lower pass rates in Class 10. Hindi usually records the highest pass percentage, a trend consistent with previous years.
UBSE Result 2026: Marksheet Details
After the result is declared, you can access a provisional marksheet online through the official portals. This digital version is for immediate use, such as for college admissions, document verification, or scholarship applications.
The original physical marksheet is issued through your school and carries the board’s official seal and signature. That document is needed for long-term purposes.
Here is what your UBSE marksheet contains:
- Student’s full name and roll number
- Father’s name and mother’s name
- School name, school code, and district
- Subject-wise marks for theory and practical (where applicable)
- Grade for each subject (A1 through E)
- Total marks obtained and overall percentage
- Division — First, Second, or Third
- Pass / Fail status
- Compartment subjects (if any — listed separately)
| Field on Marksheet | What It Shows |
|---|---|
| Student Name | Full name as registered with the board |
| Roll Number | Unique exam roll number from admit card |
| Subject-wise Marks | Theory + Practical marks separately for each subject |
| Grade | Grade (A1 to E) assigned for each subject |
| Total / Percentage | Aggregate marks and overall percentage |
| Division | First / Second / Third Division |
| Pass / Fail Status | Passed / Compartment / Failed (Essential Repeat) |
Once you collect the original marksheet from your school, check all details carefully. If you find any discrepancy in your name, roll number, or marks, report it to your school and the board immediately — corrections get harder to process the longer you wait.
UBSE Result 2026: Grading System
UBSE uses a grade-based system to classify student performance in each subject. Every subject gets a grade based on the marks scored in it, from A1 (highest) to E (fail).
Grades appear on your marksheet alongside the numerical marks. They help you understand where you stand relative to the performance benchmarks set by the board.
| Marks Range | Grade | Performance Level |
|---|---|---|
| 91–100 | A1 | Outstanding |
| 81–90 | A2 | Excellent |
| 71–80 | B1 | Very Good |
| 61–70 | B2 | Good |
| 51–60 | C1 | Above Average |
| 41–50 | C2 | Average |
| 33–40 | D | Below Average (Pass) |
| Below 33 | E | Fail |
Grade D is the minimum grade you need to pass a subject. If you receive a grade E in any subject, you either qualify for the compartment exam (depending on how many subjects you failed) or are marked for essential repeat.
The grading system applies identically to both Class 10 and Class 12.
Ques. What does Grade D mean in UBSE result?
Ans. Grade D in UBSE means you scored between 33% and 40% in that subject. It is the minimum passing grade — you have passed the subject but are in the Below Average performance bracket. The aggregate of all subjects determines your final division (First, Second, or Third).
UBSE Result 2026: Passing Marks
To pass the UBSE Class 10 or Class 12 exam, you need to score at least 33% in every subject. This applies separately to theory and practical components.
If your practical marks are above 33% but your theory marks are below 33% (or vice versa), you are still considered failed in that subject. This applies even if your overall average is above 33%.
UBSE 2026: Division and Pass Criteria
Your overall aggregate percentage decides your division in the UBSE 2026 result. Your per-subject marks decide whether you pass or fail.
| Division / Status | Criteria |
|---|---|
| First Division | 60% and above aggregate |
| Second Division | 45% to 59% aggregate |
| Third Division | 33% to 44% aggregate |
| Compartment — Class 10 | Failed in 1 or 2 subjects (pass in rest) |
| Compartment — Class 12 | Failed in exactly 1 subject (pass in rest) |
| Essential Repeat — Class 10 | Failed in 3 or more subjects |
| Essential Repeat — Class 12 | Failed in 2 or more subjects |
Practical marks are treated as a separate component. You must clear both theory and practical in every subject to secure your pass.
What is the minimum passing percentage in UBSE 2026?
You need to score at least 33% in each subject individually. Theory and practical are assessed separately. Your overall aggregate alone does not determine pass or fail.
What is the difference between compartment and essential repeat in UBSE?
Compartment means you failed in 1–2 subjects (Class 10) or exactly 1 subject (Class 12). You can re-sit only those failed subjects in the compartment exam.
Essential repeat means you failed in 3+ subjects (Class 10) or 2+ subjects (Class 12). You must repeat the entire year and appear in all subjects again in the next board cycle.
UBSE Result 2026: Grace Marks
UBSE applies grace marks to borderline students before the final result is published. If you fell just short of the 33% passing threshold in a subject, the board may add a small number of grace marks to help you clear it.
This is done automatically during result compilation. You do not need to apply for grace marks separately, and you cannot request them after the result is declared.
- Grace marks are applied at the board’s discretion, typically for students who miss the passing threshold by a very small margin (usually 1–3 marks)
- The decision happens before the result goes live, so the published result already reflects any grace marks awarded
- There is no separate application or appeal process for grace marks
- Grace marks do not appear as a separate line item on your marksheet — they are already factored into the final subject marks
If you believe your marks are incorrect despite the grace marks policy, the right path is to apply for scrutiny or photocopy of your answer sheet.
UBSE Result 2026: Scrutiny and Photocopy of Answer Sheets
After the UBSE 2026 result was declared on April 25, the board opened applications for scrutiny (re-checking of marks) and photocopy of answer sheets. As of May 2026, this process is currently underway.
If you feel your marks do not reflect your actual performance, now is the time to apply. Visit ubse.uk.gov.in for the current deadline — the application window is limited and closes within a few weeks of result declaration.
What is Scrutiny?
Scrutiny means the board re-checks your evaluated answer sheet to verify that all answers have been marked, all marks have been added up correctly, and no question has been missed. It does not involve fresh evaluation of your answers by a new examiner — it is a totalling and checking exercise only.
What is Photocopy of Answer Sheet?
A photocopy request gets you a scanned copy of your evaluated answer sheet. This lets you see exactly how the examiner marked your answers, which helps you make an informed decision about whether to proceed with scrutiny or re-evaluation.
How to Apply for Scrutiny or Photocopy
- Visit ubse.uk.gov.in
- Click on the "Scrutiny / Photocopy Application" link under the Board Examination section
- Fill in your roll number, class, and the subjects you want to apply for
- Deposit the fee through the treasury e-challan (at a designated bank)
- Upload a copy of the paid challan and submit your application
- Note down the acknowledgment number for future tracking
| Service | Fee (Per Subject / Paper) |
|---|---|
| Scrutiny / Re-checking of Marks | Rs. 100 |
| Photocopy of Answer Sheet | Rs. 400 |
Scrutiny results are typically declared within 2–3 months of the main result — usually by July or August 2026. If scrutiny leads to a change in your marks, UBSE issues a revised marksheet.
Make sure you deposit the fee in the correct account head as specified by the board. Applications with fees paid to the wrong account are rejected without a refund.
What is the fee for UBSE scrutiny and photocopy in 2026?
The fee for scrutiny (re-checking of marks) is Rs. 100 per subject. The fee for a photocopy of your answer sheet is Rs. 400 per subject.
Both fees are deposited via treasury e-challan at a designated bank. The challan must be uploaded with your application on ubse.uk.gov.in.
UBSE Scrutiny and Marks Change
Scrutiny in UBSE only re-checks totalling and whether all answers were evaluated. It does not involve fresh marking by a new examiner.
Marks change only if there was an arithmetic error or a missed-answer error. If you want a deeper review of how your answers were assessed, first get the photocopy of your answer sheet to understand whether a scrutiny application is worthwhile.
UBSE Compartment Exam 2026
Students who did not clear all subjects in the UBSE 2026 result may be eligible for the compartment examination. It is a second chance to pass the failed subjects without repeating the entire year.
UBSE typically holds the compartment exam in August each year. The board has not yet released the official compartment schedule; check ubse.uk.gov.in for official notification.
Who is Eligible for the Compartment Exam?
| Class | Compartment Eligible | Essential Repeat (Full Year Repeat) |
|---|---|---|
| Class 10 | Failed in 1 or 2 subjects | Failed in 3 or more subjects |
| Class 12 | Failed in exactly 1 subject | Failed in 2 or more subjects |
Tentative Compartment Exam Timeline

Compartment registration is done through your school — you do not apply directly to the board. Speak to your school’s exam coordinator to initiate the process once the official notification is out.
If you clear the compartment exam, you receive a revised marksheet showing you have passed all subjects.
Compartment Exam FAQs
Ques. Can a Class 12 student appear in compartment if they failed in 2 subjects?
Ans. No. Class 12 students are only eligible for the compartment exam if they failed in exactly 1 subject. If you failed in 2 or more subjects in Class 12, you are classified as essential repeat and must re-appear in all subjects in the next year’s board exam.
Ques. When will the UBSE compartment exam 2026 registration start?
Ans. Compartment exam registration is expected to start in June–July 2026, done through your school. UBSE has not yet released the official notification. Check ubse.uk.gov.in regularly and coordinate with your school’s exam coordinator for updates.
What After UBSE Result 2026?
Once you have your UBSE 2026 result, your next steps depend on the outcome. Here is a clear guide for every situation.
If you passed Class 10
- Apply for Class 11 admission in your preferred stream — Science, Commerce, or Arts. Your Class 10 marks and interests should guide this choice, since the stream you pick now shapes your career options.
- Collect the original marksheet from your school — the provisional marksheet downloaded from the portal is for immediate use only.
- Keep digital copies of your result and marksheet in a safe place for future applications.
- Explore scholarship opportunities — many state and central government scholarships open for Class 10 passers.
If you passed Class 12
- Apply for undergraduate admissions — many Uttarakhand state colleges admit students on a merit-plus-counselling basis using Class 12 marks; central universities use CUET scores.
- If you appeared in JEE Main (engineering) or NEET (medical), your Class 12 pass status satisfies the eligibility requirement — check your entrance exam result separately.
- Collect your original marksheet and migration certificate from your school.
- Keep your Class 12 marks and roll number handy — they are required on most university and scholarship application forms.
If you are appearing in the compartment exam
- Register for the compartment exam through your school in June–July 2026 once the official notification is out.
- Clearing the compartment exam in August makes you eligible for admissions in the same academic year — check with individual colleges whether they accept compartment passers.
- Some institutions allow provisional admission; you can join while the compartment result is awaited.
If you must repeat (essential repeat)
- Re-enroll in the same class for the next academic year through your school.
- You will appear in all subjects in the 2027 UBSE board examination.
- Use the extra year to strengthen weak subjects — targeted coaching or self-study in the subjects you struggled with can make a real difference.

UBSE Grading System
Grade D in UBSE means you scored between 33% and 40% in that subject. It is the minimum passing grade. You have passed the subject but are in the Below Average performance bracket.
The aggregate of all subjects determines your final division (First, Second, or Third).
Minimum Passing Percentage
You need to score at least 33% in each subject individually. Both theory and practical are assessed separately. Your overall aggregate alone does not determine pass or fail. Clear each subject component to pass.
Compartment vs Essential Repeat
Compartment means you failed in 1-2 subjects (Class 10) or exactly 1 subject (Class 12). You can re-sit only those failed subjects in the compartment exam.
Essential repeat means you failed in 3+ subjects (Class 10) or 2+ subjects (Class 12). You must repeat the entire year and appear in all subjects again in the next board cycle.
Class 12 students are only eligible for the compartment exam if they failed in exactly 1 subject. If you failed in 2 or more subjects in Class 12, you are classified as essential repeat.
Scrutiny and Photocopy Application
Scrutiny and photocopy of answer sheet applications are currently underway as of May 2026. Visit ubse.uk.gov.in for the exact deadline and application link. Act quickly as the window is time-limited after result declaration.
Scrutiny and Photocopy Fees
| Service | Fee |
|---|---|
| Scrutiny (re-checking of marks) | Rs. 100 per subject |
| Photocopy of answer sheet | Rs. 400 per subject |
Both fees are deposited via treasury e-challan at a designated bank. The challan must be uploaded with your application on ubse.uk.gov.in.
What Scrutiny Covers
Scrutiny only re-checks totalling and whether all answers were evaluated. It does not involve fresh marking by a new examiner. Marks change only if there was an arithmetic or missed-answer error.
If you want a deeper review of how your answers were assessed, first get the photocopy of your answer sheet. This will help you understand whether a scrutiny application is worthwhile.

Compartment exam registration is expected to start in June-July 2026. The registration is done through your school.
UBSE has not yet released the official notification. Check ubse.uk.gov.in regularly and coordinate with your school's exam coordinator for updates.
