CSAB Supernumerary Counselling Process

The CSAB Supernumerary counselling process involves steps like Online Registration, Choice Filling, Choice Locking, Seat Allotment, Seat Acceptance Fees, Document Verification, and Physical Reporting at the NIT.

Online Registration

The eligible candidates have to visit the official CSAB portal https://csab.nic.in and register themselves by entering their personal information, JEE Main details, and the UT-specific documents. Only candidates from the eligible Union Territories (Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep, Daman & Diu, Dadra & Nagar Haveli) with a valid JEE Main 2025 score can register.

Do we have to register again for Round 2 Counselling?

There is only a single round under the CSAB Supernumerary counselling. Therefore, candidates have to register themselves once for participating in the counselling process.

Choice Filling

After registering themselves on the official website of CSAB, candidates must log in to the portal and select their preferred courses. The choice should be made from the available supernumerary seats in NIT Calicut, Durgapur, and SVNIT Surat. Arrange your choices in order of preference to increase the chances of allotment.

How many choices can be filled in the CSAB Supernumerary?

There is no limit for choice filing under the CSAB supernumerary counselling. Candidates can fill in as many course choices as they want; they can also edit, rearrange or delete the choices before locking.

Choice Locking

After selecting the courses of their preference, candidates should lock their selected choices. If any candidates fail to lock the choices, it may result in the failure of the seat allotment.

Seat Allotment

The seat allotment results are published on the CSAB portal. The seats are allocated based on the JEE Main ranks, locked choices, and seat availability. The counselling may consist of multiple rounds.

Seat Acceptance and Fee Payment

To confirm the allotted seat, candidates must pay a non-refundable seat acceptance fee through the CSAB portal. Candidates must pay the fee within the deadline specified by CSAB. The non-payment of fees may lead to the cancellation of the seat allotment.

Category Seat Acceptance Fee

CSAB Supernumerary Admission Criteria 2025

For admission under the CSAB Supernumerary counselling, only the JEE Main 2025 scores are used. The highest scores from any session in January or April 2025 are automatically considered by CSAB. The All India Rank is calculated based on the best JEE Main Scores across both sessions.

Is There Any Cut-off in CSAB Supernumerary?

No, there is no fixed cut-off for CSAB. The admissions under CSAB is based on the eligibility, JEE Main AIR, and availability of Seats. Even candidates with lower ranks can get seats if seats are vacant and they meet the eligibility criteria.

Criteria Details
Score Used JEE Main 2025 (Best of all attempts)
Rank Used JEE Main 2025 All India Rank (AIR)
Cut-off No official or minimum cut-off
Admission Based On JEE Main AIR + Preference Order + Seat Availability
Seat Type Supernumerary (Extra seats for eligible UTs only)

How is the JEE Main Score Used in CSAB Supernumerary Counselling?

  • If a student appears in both the sessions of JEE Main 2025 (January and April), the best of the two scores is considered by CSAB.
  • The NTA calculates your normalised percentile score and converts it into the JEE Main All India rank (AIR), and the AIR is used for seat allotment.

How Seats Are Allocated Without a Cut-off?

The seats under the CSAB Supernumerary are allocated based on the JEE Main scores. There is no minimum cut-off percentile or rank under the counselling process. Candidates don’t need to meet the general JoSAA category cut-offs.

Students with low JEE Main percentiles, like 40-60, have received admission in the supernumerary rounds.
