- Candidates from Tamil Nadu who have cleared classes VIII, IX, X, XI, and XII in Tamil Nadu could apply for TANATA exam. These candidates did not need to upload any kind of nativity proof while applying.
- Native candidates belonging to Tamil Nadu who cleared any of the classes VIII, IX, X, XI, and XII or their equivalent examination from schools located outside Tamil Nadu could also apply. Such candidates will be required to compulsorily upload a copy of the Nativity Certificate only in electronic form or digitally signed e-certificate.
- Children of Central Government Employees will also be eligible to apply for the exam, regardless of their native, provided that either their parents or guardians (in case both parents are not alive) have been serving in Tamil Nadu continuously for the past five years at the time of online registration of the application. Candidates will be required to upload a certificate from the employer of the parent or guardian for the same.
- Sons and daughters of employees in the Public Sector or Government recognized institutions who have been working continuously for the past five years at the time of online registration could also apply irrespective of their domicile. Such candidates will be required to compulsorily attach a certificate from the employer along with the application. The certificate should state that the person is a permanent employee of the institution or firm concerned with evidence such as Income Tax return, PF slips, etc. and is working in Tamil Nadu continuously for the past five years.
- Candidates from other states who have studied classes VIII, IX, X, XI, and XII in Tamil Nadu will be eligible for applying. These candidates did not have to upload a Nativity Certificate.
- Children of All India Service Tamil Nadu cadre will also be eligible to apply for TANATA examination.

Who Can Apply for TANATA
TANATA stands for Tamil Nadu Aptitude Test in Architecture. The exam is conducted for admission to architecture courses in Tamil Nadu.

Diploma Holders
- Candidates who have cleared 10 + 3 years Diploma in any stream from an institution or college recognized by Central Government or State Government can apply for the examination.
- Candidates who belonged to categories other than the SC/ SCA/ ST/ BC/ BCM/ MBC & DNC should have scored no less than 50% marks in aggregate in all the semesters when put together.
- Candidates who belong to the SC/ SCA/ ST/ BC/ BCM/ MBC & DNC categories should have scored no less than 45% marks in aggregate in all the semesters when put together.
International Baccalaureate Diploma
- Candidates who have cleared International Baccalaureate Diploma post 10 years of schooling are eligible for TANATA as well.
- Such students should have studied Mathematics compulsorily.

Prepare Yourself Mentally
Before giving TANATA exam or as a matter of fact any Entrance test, it is always advised that one needed to be prepared mentally. The candidates will be required to have the “Can do it” attitude rather than “I cannot do this” or “I don’t think I am capable enough attitude”. How would one know whether they are talented or capable enough if they don’t try it out? It is going to be tough, exhausting, and challenging. TANATA 2024 Exam Pattern
The next important thing to do after preparing yourself mentally is to look up TANATA exam pattern. One could easily find the exam pattern when you either google or look up the information on the Anna University website. However, to make student lives easier, we have explained it here itself. The entrance exam will be divided into two parts ie., Part A and Part B. Part A contained 20 Mathematics related questions of 2 marks each and 40 General Aptitude related questions of 2 marks each. Thus out of 120 marks, a candidate needed to score 30 marks in Part A to qualify. Part B contained Drawing test with 2 questions of 40 marks each. Thus out of 80 marks, a candidate needed to score 20 marks in Part B to qualify. Also, unlike other entrance exams, the candidates will be required to fill the OMR answer sheets with only a pencil and not pen. There will be no negative marking for the wrong answer marked.

Time Table: Now that you know the exam pattern and have the syllabus copy with subtopics listed out for you in the above table. It’s time for you to prepare a time table accordingly. The timetable could be based on daily, weekly, and monthly targets that you set for yourself. Taking enough breaks in between the study hours are advised. You could allocate a particular time for the study based on your concentration levels. Let’s say, you are a morning person, then studying in the early morning would be more productive for you. If you are a night person, then you should have allocated your study timing in the night hours. Try your best to stick to the timetable. Also, forgive yourself if you don’t meet targets on any particular day. After all, we are all humans and we cannot be at the top of the game every single time. Make Handwritten Notes: Since the nature of the paper is mostly technical, it is important for the candidates to maintain a separate note to write down the formulas that one come across while studying or draw concepts in the form of diagrams for easy understanding. The main advantage of maintaining handwritten notes is to help the student revise all the topics that they have studied in a very short period of time. This could be particularly useful a week before the exam. Trust us, you don’t want to be juggling through all the textbooks again. Having a simple note eased the preparation. One important caution for students is not to strive for the ‘perfect notes’. The notion of the perfect notes would only waste a candidate’s time. So, it is advised to keep the notes simple.
