UPCATET 2026 Preparation Tips
If you are preparing for UPCATET 2027 or want to understand how to prepare effectively for future cycles, the tips below will help. UPCATET is based on the Class 12 syllabus, so a strong foundation in your core subjects is the most important factor.
1. Focus on NCERT Textbooks First
UPCATET questions are closely based on NCERT and UP Board Class 12 textbooks. You should finish your NCERT textbooks cover to cover before moving to any other reference book. NCERT Biology, Chemistry and Physics are the primary sources for PCB group candidates. For the PAG group, agriculture-specific topics require dedicated agricultural science textbooks published by ICAR or the state agricultural universities.
2. Understand the Marking Scheme and Attempt Carefully
UPCATET carries a negative marking of 1 mark for every wrong answer. Random guessing can hurt your score significantly. You should attempt questions only when you are reasonably sure of the answer. If you are completely unsure, it is better to leave the question unanswered than risk losing marks.
3. Solve Previous Year Papers
Solving UPCATET previous year question papers is one of the best ways to prepare. Previous year papers show you the difficulty level, frequently asked topics and the question pattern. Try to solve at least 5 years of previous year papers under timed conditions to build your speed and accuracy.
4. Make a Subject-wise Study Plan
- Biology (PCB group): Genetics, Reproduction, Ecology and Biotechnology carry high weightage. Do not skip any chapter as UPCATET covers the full Class 12 biology syllabus.
- Chemistry: Organic Chemistry is the most important part. Revise reaction mechanisms, named reactions and functional groups carefully.
- Physics: Focus on Electrostatics, Current Electricity, Optics and Modern Physics. Practice numerical problems regularly.
- Agriculture (PAG group): Soil science, crop production and plant pathology are high-weightage areas. Use ICAR-published study materials for best results.
5. Revise Regularly and Take Mock Tests
Regular revision is more effective than reading new material close to the exam. Set aside at least 2 hours every week for revision-only sessions. Take full-length mock tests at least once a month to track your progress and identify weak areas. Time management during the 3-hour exam is crucial, so practice completing 200 questions within the time limit.
6. Focus on Accuracy Over Speed

What is UPCATET Cutoff 2026?
The UPCATET cutoff is the closing merit rank at which seats fill in each round of counselling. SVPUAT Meerut conducts UPCATET on behalf of the UP government for five agricultural universities. Your UPCATET merit rank decides which university and course you can get into.
There are two kinds of cutoff in UPCATET. The qualifying cutoff is the minimum rank needed to register for counselling. The admission cutoff is the closing rank in each counselling round at each university and course. A lower rank number means stronger merit.

Factors Affecting UPCATET Cutoff 2026
Several factors shape the UPCATET cutoff each year. Knowing them helps you set realistic expectations before choosing a university or course.
- Total candidates appeared: More candidates competing for the same seats pushes closing ranks higher. Growth in applicant numbers tightens the cutoff year on year.
- Difficulty level of the exam: A tougher paper lowers raw scores. This shifts rank distributions and typically eases the closing rank slightly.
- Number of seats available: Additional seats ease the cutoff. Fewer seats tighten it. Seat intake changes based on ICAR approvals each cycle.
- Category-wise reservation: UP government norms fix reservation percentages for OBC, SC, ST, and EWS categories. Each category has a separate seat pool and its own closing rank.
- Number of counselling rounds: In later rounds, top-ranked candidates have already accepted seats elsewhere. Closing ranks in later rounds are usually higher, meaning less competition.
- Student preference for universities: SVPUAT Meerut and DUVASU Mathura attract top-ranked students. Their cutoffs stay tight. Less popular universities like BUAT Banda have higher closing ranks.
- Candidate withdrawal: Students who withdraw after Phase 1 return their seats to the pool. This shifts Phase 2 and Phase 3 closing ranks upward.
UPCATET 2026 Category-Wise Cutoff
The table below shows the UPCATET 2026 Phase 2 category-wise closing ranks for B.Sc Agriculture (Hons.) at the four main agricultural universities in UP.
| University | General | OBC | EWS | SC | ST |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| SVPUAT Meerut | 1,620 | 3,050 | 2,840 | 4,580 | 6,200 |
| CSAUAT Kanpur | 2,950 | 5,200 | 4,800 | 7,400 | 9,800 |
| NDUAT Kumarganj, Ayodhya | 3,700 | 6,400 | 5,900 | 9,200 | 12,500 |
| BUAT Banda | 6,800 | 11,500 | 10,200 | 15,200 | 19,500 |
At SVPUAT Meerut, the SC closing rank (4,580) is 2,960 ranks above the General closing rank (1,620). This gap reflects the wider SC seat pool at this university.
All closing ranks shown are from Phase 2 seat allotment published on July 5, 2026. If Phase 3 or a spot round is held, closing ranks may shift higher for less popular courses and universities.
UPCATET Cutoff for Top Agricultural Universities
UPCATET 2026 gives you admission to five agricultural universities across UP. Here is how the UPCATET cutoff compares across universities for the General category in Phase 2.
UPCATET 2026: University-Wise Cutoff
The table below lists the Phase 2 General closing ranks for B.Sc Agriculture at the five universities under UPCATET 2026. SVPUAT Meerut has the highest closing rank of 1,620.
| University | Location | General Closing Rank – Phase 2 (B.Sc Agriculture) | Competitiveness |
|---|---|---|---|
| SVPUAT Meerut | Meerut, UP | 1,620 | Highest |
| DUVASU Mathura (B.V.Sc & A.H.) | Mathura, UP | 1,850 | Very High |

| NDUAT Kumarganj, Ayodhya | Kumarganj, Ayodhya | 3,700 | Moderate |
| BUAT Banda | Banda, UP | 6,800 | Lower |
SVPUAT Meerut draws top-ranked students due to its infrastructure, research facilities, and location. DUVASU Mathura is the only veterinary university in the group. Its B.V.Sc and A.H. programme has very limited seats, which keeps its cutoff tighter than most B.Sc Agriculture programmes.
Candidates with ranks beyond 4,000 still have good options. NDUAT Kumarganj and BUAT Banda have higher closing ranks. Both universities offer the same B.Sc Agriculture degree with full ICAR recognition.
UPCATET 2026: Course-Wise Cutoff
UPCATET covers multiple courses across all five universities. The table below shows Phase 2 closing ranks for major courses in UPCATET 2026.
| Course | University | General | OBC | SC |

| B.Sc Agriculture (Hons.) | NDUAT Kumarganj | 3,700 | 6,400 | 9,200 |
B.Sc Agriculture at SVPUAT Meerut and B.V.Sc and A.H. at DUVASU Mathura are the two most competitive options. B.Sc Forestry and B.Sc Agriculture at BUAT Banda are less competitive. Candidates with ranks beyond 3,000 can still target these courses.

All categories show a steady tightening trend year on year. The 2026 Phase 2 General closing rank at SVPUAT Meerut is 1,620. That is a rise of 40 ranks from 1,580 in 2025. The pace of tightening has slowed. This likely reflects additional seats added through university expansions in recent years.
Why does the UPCATET cutoff keep rising every year?
More students appear for UPCATET each year. Agriculture careers have gained appeal due to government schemes and agri-tech growth. More competition for the same seats pushes the UPCATET cutoff higher each cycle.
UPCATET Cutoff 2026: Counselling Rounds
The UPCATET 2026 counselling runs in multiple phases. Each phase publishes a seat allotment list with its own closing ranks. Later phases typically show higher closing ranks because top-ranked candidates have already accepted seats.

BVSc & AH (Bachelor of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry) is consistently the most sought-after UG programme in UPCATET. Competition for veterinary seats has remained steady across cycles, and the closing score for government veterinary colleges has held in a tight range over the last two years.
The table below shows approximate competitive score benchmarks for BVSc & AH based on 2024 and 2025 trend data.
| Year | BVSc & AH — Approx. Competitive Score (General) | BVSc & AH — Approx. Competitive Score (SC/ST) |
|---|---|---|
| 2024 | 320–330 marks (out of 800) | 280–300 marks |
| 2025 | 320–340 marks (out of 800) | 280–305 marks |
| 2026 | To be updated after counselling rounds | To be updated after counselling rounds |
The data from 2024 and 2025 shows that competition for BVSc & AH has been stable — the closing score for General category has stayed between 320 and 340 out of 800. For other UG programmes like BSc (Hons) Agriculture, the bar is typically 50–80 marks lower, which means candidates with moderate scores still have a realistic shot at government agricultural colleges in Uttar Pradesh.

UPCATET 2026 Rank Card / Scorecard Details
The UPCATET 2026 rank card (also called the scorecard) is your official result document and the primary credential for all stages of counselling — from seat allotment to document verification to final admission at the allotted university. Keep multiple printed copies throughout the admission cycle.
| Detail on Rank Card | What It Means |
|---|---|
| Candidate's Name | Your full name as entered in the application form |
| Roll Number | Your unique exam identification number |
| Paper Group | PCB / PCM / PAG (Agriculture) / PHS (Home Science) — the group you appeared for |
| Total Marks Obtained | Your score out of 800 (UG) or 600 (PG) |
| Overall Merit Rank | Your rank among all qualifying candidates across all categories |
| Category Rank | Your rank within your category (General / OBC / EWS / SC / ST) |
| Qualifying Status | Qualified or Not Qualified based on the prescribed cut-off |
If you belong to a reserved category (SC/ST/OBC/EWS), your category rank determines priority for reserved seats at each participating university. The overall merit rank applies to open/general seats. Both ranks come into play when you fill in your counselling preferences — so note down both before you start the process.
UPCATET 2026 Qualifying Marks
To appear in the UPCATET 2026 merit list and be eligible for counselling, you must score at or above the minimum qualifying marks. These are set by the conducting authority and vary by category. Clearing the qualifying cutoff only puts you in the merit list — actual seat allotment depends on your rank and competition for your chosen programme and university.
| Category | Minimum % Required | Min. Marks — UG (out of 800) | Min. Marks — PG (out of 600) |
|---|---|---|---|
| General | 20% | 160 | 120 |
| OBC | 20% | 160 | 120 |
| EWS | 20% | 160 | 120 |
| SC | 10% | 80 | 60 |
| ST | 10% | 80 | 60 |
Based on previous-year benchmarks, scoring 370 marks or more (out of 800) is considered a good score for most UG programmes. A score of 400 marks or above puts you in a very strong position across all courses. For BVSc & AH seats at government colleges, General category candidates generally need around 320–340 marks — the most competitive bar in the exam.
UPCATET 2026 Cutoff
UPCATET has two distinct cutoff levels. The qualifying cutoff (20% for General/OBC/EWS; 10% for SC/ST) is the minimum score to appear in the merit list. The admission cutoff is the closing rank at which seats fill in a specific programme at a specific university — it differs for every course, college, and counselling round, and is published only after each round ends.
The official UPCATET 2026 admission cutoff will be released at upcatetexam.org after each counselling round. Based on 2024–25 trends, here is a guide to approximate competitive scores by popular UG programme for General category candidates:
UPCATET 2026 Expected Cutoff
The expected cutoff for UPCATET 2026 varies by programme and category. The table below shows the approximate competitive scores for the General category based on the 2025 trend.
| Programme | Key Participating Universities | Approx. Competitive Score — General (2025 trend) |
|---|---|---|
| BVSc & AH | NDUAT Ayodhya | CSAUAT Kanpur | 320–340 marks out of 800 |
| BSc (Hons) Agriculture | CSAUAT Kanpur | SVPUAT Meerut | NDUAT Ayodhya | 280–310 marks out of 800 |
| BSc (Hons) Horticulture | SVPUAT Meerut | NDUAT Ayodhya | 270–300 marks out of 800 |
| BSc (Hons) Forestry | NDUAT Ayodhya | 260–290 marks out of 800 |
| BTech (Biotechnology / Food Technology) | BUAT Banda | SVPUAT Meerut | 255–285 marks out of 800 |
SC and ST category candidates generally secure the same courses at roughly 50–70 marks below the General category figures above, based on historical UPCATET data. These numbers are indicative only — the official round-wise cutoffs will be available on the portal once counselling begins on June 26, 2026. Check there for confirmed data before making final decisions.
UPCATET 2026 Merit List
The UPCATET 2026 merit list is a rank-ordered list of all candidates who scored at or above the qualifying cutoff. Banda University of Agriculture and Technology prepares and publishes this list, and it forms the basis for seat allotment at all four participating universities. The university prepares separate merit lists for each category to ensure reservation norms are applied correctly.
- General merit list — for General category candidates
- OBC merit list — for Other Backward Classes candidates
- EWS merit list — for Economically Weaker Section candidates
- SC merit list — for Scheduled Caste candidates
- ST merit list — for Scheduled Tribe candidates
Tie-breaking criteria: If two candidates score the same total marks, the one with higher marks in the relevant core subject for their paper group gets the better rank — for example, Biology in PCB, or Agriculture in PAG. If the tie persists even after subject-level comparison, the older candidate (by date of birth) is ranked higher.
Your position in the merit list determines when you can pick your preferred programme and university during counselling. If you’re targeting BVSc & AH, check where your rank falls relative to the 2024–25 closing score benchmarks before filling your counselling preferences.

How to Solve UPCATET Sample Papers
One wrong answer in UPCATET takes back a full mark while a correct one adds four, so the way you handle a sample paper matters as much as how many questions you know.
- Set real exam conditions: Sit for the full 3 hours, use a plain OMR-style sheet, and keep a clock in front of you so the time pressure feels like the real test.
- Quick scan first: Read through the paper once and mark the direct NCERT-style questions you can finish fast before you slow down for the longer Physics numericals.
- Group order: In a PCB or PCM paper, clear your 80-question main subject and General Knowledge early while your mind is fresh, then give the leftover time to Physics and Chemistry.
- Negative marking: Mark an answer only when you can rule out at least two options, because every wrong bubble pulls 1 mark off your total.
- Lock your bubbles: Fill the OMR circle the moment you decide, since there is no review screen and a half-filled bubble can read as blank.
- Post-paper analysis:
- Count your correct, wrong, and skipped answers on their own, because the marks lost to wrong answers tell you more than the raw score.
- Sort each wrong answer into one of three boxes: wrong idea, calculation slip, or no clue at all.
- The no-clue questions point to your real weak chapters, so go back to those NCERT topics the same day and try the questions again.
UPCATET Sample Paper 2026: Why Solving Them Matters
Most UPCATET questions stay close to the NCERT Class 11 and 12 books, so a sample paper quickly shows which chapters you only think you know.
- A full mock score hides where you are dropping marks, while a subject paper points straight to the chapter you need to revise.
- These papers pull from the chapters that show up year after year, so you get a real feel for the questions likely to appear in 2026.
- The -1 penalty can quietly take away 15 to 20 marks if you guess under pressure, and timed practice helps you cut down those wrong attempts.
- Gaps in your NCERT reading show up fast, and one Chemistry paper can tell you which reactions or topics still need a second look.
- Working a paper end to end trains you to hold focus for the full 3 hours, which is its own skill on exam day.
- Marking real OMR bubbles in practice means you waste no time learning the sheet during the actual UPCATET.

- Important Topics: Questions lean on the high-weightage chapters that appear often in UPCATET, like plant physiology, organic reactions, and mechanics.

Mistakes to Avoid While Solving UPCATET Sample Papers
The same few slips cost students marks in UPCATET every year, and knowing them before you start a paper saves you from learning them the hard way in June.
- Do not attempt a full paper until you have covered about 70 to 75 percent of that subject, otherwise you spend the practice guessing instead of building skill.
- Skipping the review step wastes the paper. Go through every wrong answer and understand why your choice failed before you move on.
- Guessing freely is expensive here because of the -1 penalty, so practise leaving a question blank when you have no real idea.
- Filling the OMR bubbles in a hurry leads to misaligned marks, so practise neat and steady bubbling even during sample papers.
- Ignoring General Knowledge is a common error, yet those 20 questions carry 80 marks and are among the quickest to score.
- Treating every paper as a test for the score alone misses the point. Use the early papers to learn the pattern and save the timed runs for later.

How to Solve UPCATET Physics Sample Papers
A UPCATET Physics paper packs 50 questions into about 45 minutes, so how you pace yourself matters as much as how many formulas you remember.
- Set real exam conditions: Keep a 45-minute timer running, use a plain OMR-style answer sheet, and do not take breaks in between so it feels like the real exam.
- Quick scan first: Read the paper once and pick off the direct formula and theory questions before you settle into the longer numericals on mechanics or electricity.
- Solve in order of comfort: Clear the topics you are strong in first, then come back to the chapters that need a longer calculation, so easy marks are never left behind.
- Negative marking: Mark an answer only when you can rule out two options, because every wrong bubble pulls 1 mark off your score.
- Show your rough work: Write each step on the side so that when you check later, you can find out exactly where you made a sign or unit mistake.
- Post-paper analysis:
- Tally your right, wrong, and skipped questions separately, because in a section with negative marking the wrong count matters more than the total.
- Put every wrong answer into one of three groups: a concept you read wrong, a calculation mistake, or a question you could not start.
- The could-not-start questions are your true weak chapters, so reopen those NCERT topics the same day and rework the questions.
UPCATET Physics Sample Paper 2026: Importance
UPCATET Physics stays close to the NCERT Class 11 and 12 books, so a sample paper quickly shows which chapters you only think you have learned.
- A single Physics paper shows exactly which chapter is making you lose marks, which a combined mock score can never tell you.
- These papers pull from the chapters that show up year after year, like mechanics and current electricity, so the practice stays close to the real exam.
- The -1 penalty costs you the most in a section full of calculations, and timed practice helps you decide when a numerical is worth trying and when to leave it.
- Numerical speed only comes from solving under a clock, and a 45-minute paper trains you to finish 50 questions in time.
- One paper tells you whether your weakness is the concept or the arithmetic, so you know what to fix next.
- Filling real OMR circles during practice makes the answer sheet feel familiar on exam day instead of slowing you down.

UPCATET Physics Sample Paper 2026: Understanding the Exam Pattern
The Physics section is one part of the 200-question UPCATET paper conducted by Banda University of Agriculture and Technology. The table below shows the PCB group, where Physics carries 50 questions and 200 marks.
| Section | No. of Questions | Marks per Correct | Negative Marking | Total Marks |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Physics | 50 | +4 | -1 | 200 |
| Chemistry | 50 | +4 | -1 | 200 |
| Biology | 80 | +4 | -1 | 320 |
| General Knowledge | 20 | +4 | -1 | 80 |

Mistakes to Avoid While Solving Sample Papers
A few repeated slips cost UPCATET Physics marks every year, and spotting them before you start a paper saves you from learning them in the exam hall.
- Do not attempt a full Physics paper until you have covered about 70 to 75 percent of the section, otherwise the practice turns into guesswork.
- Skipping the review step wastes the paper, so go through every wrong answer and find whether it was the concept or the calculation.
- Guessing freely is costly because of the -1 penalty, so practise leaving a numerical blank when you have no real method for it.
- Dropping units and powers of ten is a common Physics error, so check that your final answer carries the right unit before you mark it.
- Spending too long on one tough numerical eats the time of three easy questions, so move on and return only if minutes are left.
- Treating early papers as a score test misses the point, so use them to learn the chapter spread and save the timed runs for later.

How to Solve UPCATET Chemistry Sample Papers
A lot of UPCATET Chemistry is direct theory and reactions from NCERT, so once you know a chapter well, those questions take only a few seconds each. The trick is to grab them fast and keep time for the physical chemistry numericals.
- Set real exam conditions: Keep a 45-minute timer on, use a plain OMR-style answer sheet, and do not take breaks in between so it feels like the real exam.
- Pick the easy ones first: Go through the paper once and answer the direct theory questions, like periodic table facts and named reactions, before you sit down with the physical chemistry sums.
- Go branch by branch: Finish the branch you are strong in, whether that is Organic, Inorganic, or Physical, and come back to the weaker one with a calm head.
- Negative marking: Mark an answer only when you can drop at least two options, because every wrong answer takes 1 mark off your score.
- Write the steps for sums: For mole, equilibrium, or electrochemistry numericals, write each step on the side so you can check later where you went wrong.
- Post-paper analysis:
- Count your right, wrong, and skipped questions one by one, because in a section with negative marking the wrong count tells you more than the total score.
- Split your wrong answers into three groups: a reaction or fact you forgot, a sum you got wrong, or a question you could not start.
- The questions you could not start point to your weak chapters, so open those NCERT pages the same day and do the questions again.
UPCATET Chemistry Sample Paper 2026: Importance
Most of UPCATET Chemistry comes straight from the NCERT Class 11 and 12 books, so one sample paper quickly tells you which reactions and formulae have slipped from your memory.
- A single paper shows you which branch is pulling you down, whether it is the theory in Inorganic, the reactions in Organic, or the sums in Physical.
- These papers use the chapters that come up almost every year, like chemical bonding, organic functional groups, and thermodynamics, so your practice stays close to the real exam.
- Chemistry has many sure-shot theory questions, so cutting down your wrong guesses with the -1 penalty in mind can add marks quickly.
- Reactions and exceptions fade fast if you do not revise, and a paper points out exactly which ones you have started to forget.
- Finishing 50 questions in about 45 minutes is its own skill, and only timed papers build that speed.
- Marking the OMR sheet in practice means the real answer sheet feels normal on exam day and does not slow you down.

Mistakes to Avoid While Solving Sample Papers
A few common slips cost UPCATET Chemistry marks every year, and knowing them before you start a paper saves you from making them in the exam hall.
- Do not attempt a full Chemistry paper until you have covered about 70 to 75 percent of the section, or the practice turns into guessing.
- Skipping the review wastes the paper, so go through every wrong answer and find out whether you forgot a reaction or made a calculation mistake.
- Guessing freely is costly because of the -1 penalty, so leave a question blank when you have no real idea of the answer.
- Mixing up close reactions, like the different tests for aldehydes and ketones, is a common error, so revise them side by side.
- Forgetting the exceptions in the periodic table and in electronic configuration loses easy marks, so keep a short list of them for quick revision.
- Treating the early papers as a score test misses the point, so use them to learn the chapter mix and save the timed runs for later.

How to Solve UPCATET Biology Sample Papers
Biology is the biggest subject in the UPCATET PCB paper with 80 questions, and each wrong answer costs a mark, so your practice should build both speed and care at the same time.
- Set real exam conditions: Mark your answers on an OMR-style sheet, give yourself about 80 minutes for the 80 biology questions, and solve at the pace the real paper needs.
- Answer the sure ones first: Go through once and clear the cell biology, human physiology and genetics questions you know straight away, then return to the harder ones.
- Mind the negative marking: Each wrong answer takes away 1 mark, so leave a question blank when you cannot bring it down to a likely answer.
- Cover botany and zoology: The paper pulls roughly evenly from plant and animal topics, so practise both halves rather than only your stronger one.
- Be ready for diagram questions: Questions on cell parts, plant structures and the human body come up often, so practise reading and labelling them.
- Check the paper afterwards:
- See which units took you the most time.
- Note the NCERT line behind each answer you missed.

Mistakes to Avoid While Solving Sample Papers
Most students treat biology as easy reading and skip full timed practice, then find the 80 questions hard to finish under the negative marking.
- Guessing blindly on questions you are unsure of and losing marks to the 1-mark penalty.
- Studying only zoology or only botany, when the paper draws from both.
- Skipping diagram-based questions instead of practising how to read and label them.
- Spending too long on one hard genetics or physiology question and rushing the rest.
- Reading guide books but not the NCERT and UP Board lines that the answers come from.
- Not reviewing solved papers, so the same mistakes come back on the real day.

UPCATET General Studies Sample Paper: Understanding the Exam Pattern
General Studies is the common part of every UPCATET paper. The full paper has 200 questions for 800 marks in 3 hours, of which 20 questions are general knowledge and the other 180 come from your chosen group.
| Section | No. of Questions | Marks per Correct | Negative Marking | Total Marks |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| General Studies | 20 | +4 | -1 | 80 |
| Group subjects (as per your group: PCB, PCM, PAG or PHS) | 180 | +4 | -1 | 720 |
| Total | 200 | 800 |
Each correct answer gives +4 marks, a wrong answer loses 1 mark, and an unattempted question scores 0, so it pays to answer only the general knowledge you are sure of.

Mistakes to Avoid While Solving Sample Papers
Most students leave General Studies to the last week and lose easy marks, even though it is the one section that does not change with your group.
- Guessing dates, names and places you are unsure of and losing marks to the 1-mark penalty.
- Skipping current affairs and relying only on static general knowledge.
- Reading random general knowledge instead of the areas the paper actually asks from.
- Spending too long on one hard question when the section is meant to be quick.
- Treating General Studies as less important than the group subjects and barely practising it.
- Not reviewing solved papers, so the same gaps in general knowledge stay on the real day.

How to Solve UPCATET Mathematics Sample Papers
Maths is the biggest subject in the UPCATET PCM paper with 80 questions, and each one needs proper working, so your practice should build both speed and accuracy at the same time.
- Set real exam conditions: Mark your answers on an OMR-style sheet, give yourself about 80 minutes for the 80 maths questions, and do every step on rough sheets.
- Answer the quick ones first: Clear the short formula-based questions from sets, matrices and basic trigonometry, then return to the longer calculus and coordinate geometry problems.
- Mind the negative marking: Each wrong answer takes away 1 mark, so leave a question blank when you cannot finish the working with confidence.
- Show every step: Write out the working rather than doing it in your head, so a sign or calculation slip does not cost you a sure mark.
- Give calculus and algebra the most time: These two areas carry the largest share of questions, so practise them in every paper.
- Check the paper afterwards:
- See which chapters took you the longest.
- Note the formula or step you missed in each wrong answer.
- Re-solve the questions you got wrong until the method is clear.
UPCATET Mathematics Sample Paper: Importance
With 80 of the 200 questions coming from maths, the PCM paper is won or lost on this subject, so steady practice on full maths papers matters more than for any other part.
- You get used to handling all 80 maths questions in about 80 minutes, which is the real pace you need.
- You learn when to solve and when to skip, since a wrong answer loses 1 mark under the negative marking.
- You build speed on long calculus and coordinate geometry questions, where many students run out of time.
- You find the chapters that carry the most questions, such as calculus and algebra, so your revision stays on track.
- You cut down on sign and calculation slips by practising full working under the clock.
- Your maths score becomes steady, so you can set a clear target for the PCM paper.
Why Choose MyKollege's UPCATET Mathematics Sample Paper

Mistakes to Avoid While Solving Sample Papers
Most students practise maths chapter by chapter and never sit the full 80-question paper, then find the real PCM paper hard to finish in time under the negative marking.
- Guessing on questions you cannot finish and losing marks to the 1-mark penalty.
- Doing the working in your head and then making sign or calculation slips.
- Spending too long on one hard calculus or coordinate geometry question and rushing the rest.
- Skipping practice on Linear Programming and Differential Equations because they feel small.
- Learning formulas without solving enough questions, so the steps slow you down in the exam.
- Not reviewing solved papers, so the same mistakes come back on the real day.

UPCATET Agriculture Zoology Exam Pattern and Marks Distribution 2026
Agriculture Zoology is not a stand-alone paper. It is one block inside the 200-question PAG paper, sharing space with Agriculture Botany, Agronomy, Animal Husbandry and the other agriculture subjects, so your sample-paper practice should match its share of questions and the same marking pressure.
- Agriculture Zoology questions: 25 out of the 200 questions in the PAG paper.
- Total marks: 800 marks for the paper, every question worth 4 marks.
- Negative marking: 1 mark is deducted for each wrong answer, so blind guessing can pull your score down fast.
- Duration: 3 hours for the whole paper, which works out to roughly 0.9 minutes per question.
- Mode: Offline OMR sheet, bilingual in English and Hindi.
Key advice: Treat the Agriculture Zoology block as a 23-minute mini test inside your sample-paper practice so your real-exam pacing becomes automatic.
UPCATET Agriculture Zoology Sample Papers - Why Recent Papers Matter Most
UPCATET keeps its Agriculture Zoology questions tied to the current UP Board agriculture syllabus, so the most recent papers show you exactly which topics the examiners are leaning on this cycle. Older papers still build your basics, but recent ones reflect the present difficulty and phrasing.
- Recent papers reveal the live weightage on injurious insect pests and their control measures.
- They reflect the current bilingual phrasing, which helps you read Hindi-English option pairs quickly.
- They keep you away from deleted or out-of-syllabus topics that older PDFs may still carry.
UPCATET Agriculture Zoology Chapter Wise Weightage - High Scoring Topics to Focus in Sample Papers

How to Use UPCATET Agriculture Zoology Sample Papers to Clear in First Attempt
Sample papers only help if you treat each one as a real OMR exam, not a casual quiz. Build a simple routine and repeat it across all five papers.
- Set a strict 23-minute timer for the 25-question Agriculture Zoology block and fill a mock OMR sheet by hand.
- Mark an answer only when you are sure, and skip rather than guess on topics you have not revised.
- After each paper, sort your errors into silly mistakes, recall gaps and concept gaps.
- Re-read the exact syllabus lines behind every wrong answer the same day.
- Re-attempt the questions you skipped after revising that topic to confirm the fix.
- Track your net score after negative marking, not your raw correct count.
UPCATET OMR and Negative Marking Strategy for Agriculture Zoology
Because UPCATET deducts 1 mark for every wrong answer, your OMR discipline matters as much as your Agriculture Zoology knowledge. A clean strategy protects the marks you have already earned.
- Bubble answers in batches of five to ten so a single misalignment cannot shift a whole column.
- Attempt a guess only when you can confidently eliminate two of the four options.
- Keep the last few minutes free to transfer any answers you marked only on the question booklet.
- Never leave a question half-shaded, since a faint or double bubble reads as wrong on the OMR scanner.
UPCATET Agriculture Zoology 4 Week Preparation Plan Using Sample Papers
- Week 1: Revise Classification, Animal Tissues and Insect Morphology, then solve Sample Paper 1 untimed to find your weak spots.
- Week 2: Cover Injurious Insect Pests and Beneficial Insects (sericulture, apiculture, lac culture), then attempt Sample Papers 2 and 3 with a 23-minute timer.
- Week 3: Master Pisciculture, Livestock Parasites, Rodent Pests and Animal Physiology, then solve Sample Paper 4 and review every error against the syllabus.
- Week 4: Take Sample Paper 5 as a full mock, redo your most-missed questions, and keep the last 2 days for light revision of pest names, life cycles and key terms only.

UPCATET Agronomy Sample Papers - Why Recent Papers Matter Most
UPCATET leans on the same Agronomy ideas year after year, so recent papers are the clearest guide to what 2026 will test. Keep these points in mind before you pick a paper.
- Cereal and pulse crop production, cropping systems and weed management have stayed the heaviest areas in recent papers, so weight your practice toward crop facts and field operations first.
- Most Agronomy questions are factual rather than numerical, so recent papers train fast recall of seed rates, spacing, sowing time and crop varieties.
- Older papers still help for tillage and irrigation basics, but always cross-check their topics against the current UP Board Agriculture syllabus before trusting them.
UPCATET Agronomy Chapter Wise Weightage - High Scoring Topics to Focus in Sample Papers
The table below shows an approximate UPCATET Agronomy chapter wise weightage based on past papers, scaled to the 25 questions in the PAG block. Use it to decide which areas deserve the most attention while you solve the sample papers.

How to Use UPCATET Agronomy Sample Papers to Clear in First Attempt
Solving papers without a method wastes them. Follow this routine so each UPCATET Agronomy sample paper teaches you something you carry into the next one.
- Solve each 25-question set in one 23 minute sitting on an OMR-style grid so you build real exam speed and bubbling habits.
- Mark an answer only when you can rule out at least two options; leave the rest blank to protect against -1.
- After scoring, sort mistakes into silly errors, crop-fact confusion and concept gaps, and fix the crop-fact confusion first since seed rates and spacing repeat often.
- Keep a one-page sheet of crop seed rates, spacing, sowing times and irrigation stages, and update it after every paper.
- Re-solve the questions you got wrong two days later, without the solution, to confirm the fix held.
- Track your score across all five papers; rising correct answers and falling blind guesses mean you are exam-ready.
UPCATET Agronomy OMR and Negative Marking Strategy
UPCATET PAG is an offline OMR test with -1 for every wrong answer, so how you fill the sheet matters as much as what you know. These habits protect your Agronomy score.
- Fill bubbles in small batches rather than after each question, so you do not lose rhythm or misalign rows.
- Check the question number against the OMR row each time you start a new batch; one shifted bubble can ruin a whole block.
- Do a confidence pass first, locking in the crop and cropping system questions you are sure of, then return to doubtful ones.
- Set a personal guess limit: if you cannot eliminate two options, leave it blank, because blanks hurt far less than a -1.
UPCATET Agronomy 4 Week Preparation Plan Using Sample Papers
- Week 1: Revise principles of agronomy, tillage and cereal crops, then solve Sample Paper 1 untimed to find your weak areas.
- Week 2: Cover pulses, oilseeds, cropping systems and irrigation, and solve Sample Paper 2 and 3 under a 23 minute timer each.
- Week 3: Finish nutrient management, weed control and dryland farming, attempt Sample Paper 4, and rework every mistake from Papers 1 to 3.
- Week 4: Take Sample Paper 5 as a full mock, then spend the last 2 days on light revision of your crop-fact sheet and flagged questions only, with no new topics.

FAQs on UPCATET Agriculture Chemistry Sample Papers
Ques.Is UPCATET Agriculture Chemistry the same as normal Chemistry?
Ans.No. Agriculture Chemistry in the UPCATET PAG group is the UP Board subject Agricultural Chemistry, which covers soil chemistry, plant nutrients, manures and fertilizers, and crop biochemistry, not the general PCM Chemistry taken by science-stream students. It is meant for students who studied the Agriculture stream at Intermediate.
Ques. How many Agriculture Chemistry questions come in UPCATET?
Ans.The PAG paper has 200 questions, and Agriculture Chemistry carries 25 of them, worth 75 marks. Each question is +3 for correct and -1 for wrong, so this block can meaningfully lift your total if you prepare it well.
Ques. What is the marking scheme for the UPCATET PAG paper?
Ans.The PAG group paper awards +3 marks for a correct answer and deducts -1 mark for a wrong answer, with no penalty for unattempted questions. The full paper is 200 questions for 600 marks in 3 hours.
Ques.Which Agriculture Chemistry topics carry the most weight?
Ans.Soil chemistry, plant nutrients, and manures and fertilizers together carry the largest share of the 25 questions. Soil organic matter, irrigation water quality and soil testing carry fewer but are almost pure recall, so they are reliable easy marks.
Ques. Are there many numerical questions in UPCATET Agriculture Chemistry?
Ans.Most Agriculture Chemistry questions are factual or formula-based, with only a few light numericals on fertilizer nutrient percentages or pH. So your main job is fast, accurate recall of compounds, nutrient roles and reactions rather than long calculations.

Key advice: This is a calculation-friendly block where a correct method gives a sure +3, so practise the standard formulae for mean, standard deviation, interest and area until they are automatic; speed here frees time for the wordier agriculture subjects.
UPCATET Agriculture Statistics & Mathematics Sample Papers - Why Recent Papers Matter Most
UPCATET leans on the same Statistics and Mathematics ideas year after year, so recent papers are the clearest guide to what 2026 will test. Keep these points in mind before you pick a paper.
- Central tendency, dispersion and basic arithmetic have stayed the heaviest areas in recent papers, so weight your practice toward mean, median, standard deviation and percentage problems first.
- Most questions are short, single-step calculations rather than long proofs, so recent papers train fast and accurate formula use under time pressure.
- Older papers still help for mensuration and algebra basics, but always cross-check their topics against the current UP Board Agricultural Statistics and Mathematics syllabus before trusting them.
UPCATET Agriculture Statistics & Mathematics Chapter Wise Weightage - High Scoring Topics to Focus in Sample Papers
The table below shows an approximate UPCATET Agriculture Statistics & Mathematics chapter wise weightage based on past papers, scaled to the 20 questions in the PAG block. Use it to decide which areas deserve the most attention while you solve the sample papers.
| Chapter | Questions | Difficulty | What to Watch For |
|---|---|---|---|
| Measures of Central Tendency (Mean, Median, Mode) | 3 | Easy to Medium | Direct and grouped-data mean, median class, modal value. |
| Measures of Dispersion (Range, SD, Variance, CV) | 3 | Medium | Standard deviation, variance, coefficient of variation formulae. |
| Arithmetic (Ratio, Percentage, Interest, Average) | 3 | Easy to Medium | Percentage change, simple and compound interest, ratio sharing. |
| Mensuration (Area and Volume of Fields and Solids) | 3 | Medium | Area of rectangle, triangle, circle; volume of cube, cylinder, tank. |
| Data Collection, Classification and Tabulation | 2 | Easy | Types of data, frequency tables, class intervals, cumulative frequency. |

How to Use UPCATET Agriculture Statistics & Mathematics Sample Papers to Clear in First Attempt
Solving papers without a method wastes them. Follow this routine so each UPCATET Agriculture Statistics & Mathematics sample paper teaches you something you carry into the next one.
- Solve each 20-question set in one 18 minute sitting on an OMR-style grid so you build real exam speed and bubbling habits.
- Mark an answer only when your calculation is clean; if you cannot finish a long sum quickly, leave it blank to protect against -1.
- After scoring, sort mistakes into calculation slips, formula gaps and concept gaps, and fix the formula gaps first since the same formulae repeat every year.
- Keep a one-page sheet of statistics and mensuration formulae, and update it every time a paper surprises you.
- Re-solve the questions you got wrong two days later, without the solution, to confirm the fix held.
- Track your score across all five papers; rising correct answers and falling blind guesses mean you are exam-ready.
UPCATET Agriculture Statistics & Mathematics OMR and Negative Marking Strategy
UPCATET PAG is an offline OMR test with -1 for every wrong answer, so how you fill the sheet matters as much as how you calculate. These habits protect your Statistics and Mathematics score.
- Do the quick one-step questions first and bubble them in small batches, then come back to the longer calculations.
- Check the question number against the OMR row each time you start a new batch; one shifted bubble can ruin a whole block.
- Recheck the units in mensuration and interest questions before bubbling, since a unit slip is the most common wrong answer here.
- Set a personal guess limit: if a calculation is half-done and time is short, leave it blank, because blanks hurt far less than a -1.
