IICD Entrance Exam Overview
The IICD Entrance Exam is conducted in offline mode as a pen and paper-based test. The IICD entrance exam pattern 2024 is divided into three sections: written paper, portfolio submission, and one personal interview round. IICD admissions 2024 are based on a candidate's score in all three rounds.
The entrance test checks the creativity and observation ability of candidates. All questions do not carry the same marks, and the marks for each question are mentioned alongside it. There is no negative marking in the IICD Entrance Exam 2024.
The university has not specified any syllabus for the entrance exam. Candidates should possess the ability to understand various shapes, colours, and materials.

IICD Detailed Entrance Exam Pattern 2024
The IICD Entrance Test 2024 includes two papers followed by a Personal Interview. All the processes are conducted on the same day.
- The first paper is based on General Awareness, Creativity and Perception Test, while the second paper is based on Material, Color and Conceptual Ability Test.
- Both tests are conducted for both UG and PG admissions and hold a similar examination pattern, just the level of questions changes.
- Both papers are of 2 hours duration.
- The maximum marks allocated for both papers is 100.
General Awareness, Creativity and Perception Test
- This test contains a total of 31 questions.
- The first 25 questions are General Awareness questions, which are Multiple Choice Questions.
- Questions numbered 26 to 30 are visual observation based questions; these are also Multiple Choice Questions.
- Question number 31 is a creative writing question, where candidates are given two topics and must write a short essay on one.
Material, Color and Conceptual Ability Test
- This test is divided into 2 sections, Section A and Section B.
- Section A is the Material Test, where candidates are given certain materials and must create something out of them.
- Candidates are also required to explain in around 50 words what they have made and write it on the sheet provided.
- Section B is the Color and Conceptual Ability Test, where candidates are given materials and must create something using them. Candidates also have to write about the composition and colour scheme of the thing they have created.
The exam pattern for UG and PG courses does not vary much in terms of total marks, time allotted, or type of questions. There can be a slight change in the number of questions asked in the PG examination in Creativity and Perception and Material, Color and Conceptual Ability Test, but the crux of the test is exactly the same.
IICD Entrance Exam 2024 Marking Scheme
The marking scheme for the IICD Entrance Examination 2024 is fairly simple. There is no negative marking in the exam.
IICD Personal Interview
The personal interview of IICD is conducted online. Each individual is evaluated by their personality during the interview. The attributes kept in mind are:

- Intelligence Quotient (IQ)
- Communication Ability
- General Awareness about Crafts & Design
- Overall Personal Achievements in academics and co-curricular activities
IICD Portfolio 2024
Candidates must carry sample works that they have prepared for IICD 2024 and show them to the interview panel. This portrays their capabilities in front of the interviewers. The sample can be anything: sketching, embroidery, painting, photography, working, or writing anything creatively.

IICD Entrance Exam 2024 Marking Scheme
The total weightage for both the papers in the IICD Entrance Exam 2024 is 100 marks. There is no negative marking in the exam.
The number of marks a question carries will be mentioned along with the question. For creative writing questions, marks will be based on the quality of the answer provided by the candidate. Scoring full marks for each creative writing question is highly improbable. Candidates will get full marks if they answer a Multiple Choice Question correctly.
Division of Marks in Written Tests
The marks are divided between two written tests: General Awareness, Creativity and Perception Test, and Material, Color and Conceptual Ability Test.
General Awareness, Creativity and Perception Test
- The first 25 questions on General Awareness will carry one mark each.
- The next 5 questions on visual observation will carry 5 marks each.
- The remaining questions will be creative writing questions with a total weightage of 50 marks.
- The number of creative writing questions may vary from 2 to 4 for UG and PG examination.
- Marks for each creative writing question will be adjusted and mentioned along with each question.
Material, Color and Conceptual Ability Test
- Section A of the Material Usage Test will be of 50 marks. The number of questions may differ for UG and PG test.
- Section B of the Color and Conceptual Ability Test will be of 50 marks. The number of questions may differ for UG and PG test.
- Marks for each question will be adjusted and mentioned along with each question.
IICD Entrance Exam 2024 Syllabus
Indian Institute of Craft and Design will not specify any syllabus for IICD Entrance Test 2024. Defining a syllabus would impose restrictions on the creativity of the candidates, which this exam aims to judge.

Important Instructions to Fill IICD OMR Sheet
Candidates must follow the instructions carefully while filling the OMR sheet to avoid any discrepancy in the exam.
- Reach the examination center on time, preferably an hour before the start of the examination.
- Carry the Admit Card and a valid ID proof to the examination hall.
- Do not carry any pen, pencil or design material. Everything will be provided at the examination hall.
- Writing anything or leaving any stray marks on the paper is strictly prohibited.
- Candidates must show originality and creativity in their creations and writings.
- Copied creative pieces will be summarily rejected or lead to disqualification of candidates.
Practice Paper
Indian Institute of Crafts and Design conducts IICD Entrance Exam to admit students in its undergraduate and postgraduate Design programs.
