About this Scholarship
The OFID Scholarship Program 2019 is an initiative by the OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID) designed to support outstanding young scholars from developing countries. The scholarship aims to help talented individuals pursue graduate studies in fields that contribute directly to sustainable development and poverty alleviation in their home nations.
By funding Master's degree studies at accredited universities worldwide, the program empowers future leaders to acquire advanced knowledge and expertise, enabling them to address critical socioeconomic challenges and foster development in their communities.
Eligibility Criteria
- Age Criteria: Must be between the ages of 23 and 32 at the time of submitting his/her application.
- Academic Background: Must have obtained, or be on the verge of completing, an undergraduate degree with a Baccalaureate from an accredited college/university, or its equivalent.
- Academic Performance: Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 rating system, or its equivalent.
- Enrollment Status: Must be matriculated at an accredited university for the upcoming academic year starting August/September 2019, and must maintain full-time status for the duration of the Master’s Degree.
- Nationality Requirements: Must be a national of a developing country (please refer to the list of eligible countries). Note: Nationals of OFID Member Countries (Algeria, Ecuador, Gabon, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Libya, Nigeria, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Venezuela) are ineligible to apply.
- Field of Study: Must select a subject of study that pertains to OFID’s core mission, such as economics of development (poverty reduction, energy and sustainable development), environment (desertification), or other related science and technology fields.
- Application Compliance: Applicants are responsible for gathering and submitting all necessary information. Applications will be evaluated based on the information provided, so all questions should be answered as thoroughly as possible. Incomplete applications will not be considered, and no changes can be made once an application has been submitted.
