Campus Location
The campus of the University of Freiburg is located in Freiburg im Breisgau, Baden-Württemberg, at the edge of the Black Forest. This campus is not centralised; historic buildings such as Kollegiengebäude sit in the old town while newer Science and Engineering courses are there.
It is 20 minutes from the French border and around 90 minutes by train to Basel, Switzerland.
Campus Life for Indian Students on Campus
The Freiburg University environment is a highly green, cycling-friendly city with an outdoor culture, cafes and pubs for students. There is an International Office and an active Indian Students Association that help new international students with orientation, housing tips and cultural events. As per the facilities offered by the University of Freiberg, there is a huge library along with 24-hour exam access and affordable student canteens (Mensa).

The city of Freiberg has a very low crime rate (Crime Index around 22), which makes it one of the safest university towns in Germany.
The people living there are generally tolerant, peaceful and welcoming, with strict social attitudes against discrimination. At night, is safe to use late-night trams or bicycles.
