There’s only one “oldest and greatest musical tradition”: Spring Sing. Since the 1940s, UCLA’s most bold and talented have taken cross-campus stages to share their comedic, vocal and musical stylings. Spring Sing began in Royce Hall in 1945 as a fraternity talent show competition determining the “Champion Serenader of Sorority Row.” Today, Spring Sing looks a little different. Hopeful undergraduates have the opportunity to impress surprise celebrity judges (like Ronald Reagan and Paula Abdul) and score their big break. Maroon 5 and Sara Bareilles famously competed against one another in 2002, in a time she calls a “crazy, fruitful era of musical talent at UCLA.” This year, Spring Sing returns to Royce Hall and promises another wealth of fabulous, undiscovered Bruin talent. Learn more about Sara Bareilles’s golden era at UCLA in UCLA Magazine’s Spring edition and get your 2026 Spring Sing tickets here.
