NMAT 2025 Eligibility Criteria

NMAT by GMAC is a national-level management entrance exam. Candidates must meet the eligibility criteria set by GMAC to apply for NMAT 2025. The basic requirement is a bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized university with a minimum of 50% marks.

Age Limit

There is no upper age limit to apply for NMAT 2025. GMAC has not set any age-based restrictions for applicants.

Educational Qualification

  • Candidates must have a bachelor's degree (10+2+3/4) from a recognized university.
  • A minimum of 50% marks in graduation is required.
  • Final-year graduation students can also apply. Their admission will be provisional until they submit the final mark sheet and degree certificate at admission time.

Professional Work Experience

Work experience is not mandatory for NMAT. However, candidates with 2-3 years of prior work experience in a relevant field may be given preference during admission.

Number of Attempts

Candidates can take the NMAT 2025 exam 3 times in a year. This includes the first attempt, retakes, and no-shows. The best score out of the three attempts is used for the final percentile calculation.

NMAT scores are accepted by NMIMS University and 35+ other business schools in India. The scores are also accepted by 25 foreign universities in the Philippines, Nigeria, Morocco, and South Africa. Eligibility criteria for popular courses are given below.

  • Post-graduate degree in Psychology, Sociology, and Economics is also accepted.
  • B.Tech or B.E in Bio-Tech or Bio-Medical is accepted.
  • Minimum aggregate of 50% marks in the first attempt.
  • Part-time, distance-learning, or correspondence graduates are not eligible.
  • Candidates working in pharmaceutical companies for more than two years are preferred.

NMAT Eligibility Criteria 2025

NMAT by GMAC is a national-level management entrance exam. The eligibility criteria decide who can apply for the exam and for admission to participating B-schools.

Who can apply for NMAT 2025

Candidates must hold a full-time Bachelor's degree (10+2+3/4) from a recognized university. A minimum aggregate of 50% marks in the first attempt is required.

  • Final year students can apply, but admission is provisional until they submit the mark sheet and provisional certificate.
  • Candidates from any discipline, including Arts, can apply.
  • Professional degree holders such as CA, CS, and ICWA are eligible.
  • Candidates awaiting their results can also apply.

    NMAT Eligibility Criteria for Overseas Graduates

    Candidates who completed their graduation from a university outside India must obtain an AIU certificate. This certificate is mandatory for admission.

    Who Can Apply for NMAT

    Candidates appearing for the final examination of their Bachelor's degree can also apply for full-time courses. In such cases, provisional admission is granted.

    Provisional admission depends on clearing the final examination with at least fifty percent aggregate marks. Candidates must produce semester-wise, trimester-wise, or consolidated mark sheets of all years from their college at the time of admission.

    • Printed copies of mark sheets must be attested by the Principal with the official seal. Without this attestation, the mark sheets will not be accepted.
    • Candidates from universities following the Grade Point Average system must produce the equivalent percentage for their GPA or CGPA in writing from the concerned university.

    NMAT Reservation Policy

    GMAC does not specify any reservation policy for NMAT. The admission process is conducted by the respective participating colleges.

    Participating colleges follow their own reservation criteria for MBA or PGDM admissions based on NMAT scores. Candidates must check the respective college websites before applying.

    • There is no provision for category-wise different minimum qualifying marks to register for the NMAT exam.
    • No concession is granted in the NMAT application fee for candidates from reserved categories such as ST, SC, OBC, or PwD.
    • The application criteria and fee are the same for all candidates irrespective of category.

    Reservation of seats for widows or wards of armed forces personnel killed or disabled in action or during peacetime is applicable. Reservation for wards of Kashmiri migrants is also applicable for candidates who meet the desired cut-offs and other eligibility requirements at the time of registration.

    NMAT Eligibility 2025 FAQs

    What are the eligibility criteria for NMAT 2025?

    Candidates should graduate with a minimum of 50% marks or be in the final year of graduation to apply for this exam. GMAC specifies that candidates are responsible for checking the eligibility criteria before filling out the application form. If candidates are found ineligible to appear for the exam, no refund of fees will be made.

    Can NRI candidates also apply for this exam?

    Yes, NRI and Indian candidates are eligible for this exam. A Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 50% marks is mandatory along with a GMAT score above 600. Work experience is generally given preference while selecting foreign nationals.

    Are the eligibility criteria the same for every institute?

    Eligibility criteria vary as per the course selected by the candidate. General eligibility is the same for all the participating institutes in NMAT. Final selections are based on the preference and shortlisting procedure of the institute. For instance, candidates having professional experience of more than 1 year are given preference.
