VITEEE 2026 Eligibility Criteria Highlights
VIT has released the VITEEE 2026 eligibility criteria in the official prospectus. Candidates must meet all the conditions to fill the VITEEE application form and take part in admission.

Nationality Requirement
The candidate applying for VITEEE 2026 must be one of the following:
- Resident of India
- Non-Resident Indian National (NRI)
- Person of Indian Origin (PIO)
- Overseas Citizen of India (OCI)
PIO and OCI candidates must have studied in schools located in India for the preceding 2 years.
Age Limit
- Candidates must be born on or after July 1, 2003.
- The date of birth recorded in the High School/SSC/Class 10 certificate is considered final.
- The original certificate must be produced as age proof at the time of counselling, or the candidate will be disqualified.
- Candidates must have completed 17 years of age as of July 1, 2026.
Qualifying Examination
Candidates must have completed, or will appear in 2026 for, one of the following qualifying examinations:
- Class 10+2 conducted by State Board, CBSE, or ICSE
- Intermediate or 2-year Pre-University Examination from a recognised Board or University
- High School Certificate Examination of the Cambridge University
- International Baccalaureate Diploma of the International Baccalaureate Organisation, Geneva
- General Certificate Education (GCE) examination (London/Cambridge/Sri Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level
NIOS (National Institute of Open Schooling) candidates are also eligible to apply. They must submit the Migration-Cum-Transfer Certificate at the time of admission or VITEEE counselling.
Minimum Marks Required
- Candidates must have secured an aggregate of 60% in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/Biology in the qualifying examination.
- SC/ST candidates get a 10% concession and can apply with 50% marks.
Subject Criteria for Specific Programmes
Candidates who studied Physics, Chemistry, and Biology are eligible for B.Tech. Bioengineering and B.Tech. Biotechnology. They are also eligible for ECE with a specialisation in Biomedical Engineering, and B.Tech. Computer Science and Engineering (specialisation in Bioinformatics).
For these programmes, registering for Mathematics as a bridge course is mandatory after joining.
VITEEE Score Compulsory
VIT has made VITEEE scores compulsory for admission into all B.Tech courses. Candidates who do not meet the eligibility criteria cannot fill the application form.
VITEEE 2026 Eligibility Criteria – Subject Requirements
Candidates with Physics, Chemistry, and Maths in the qualifying exam are eligible for all B.Tech degree programs. Candidates with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology are eligible only for B.Tech Bio Stream programs.
- Bio Stream programs include B.Tech Bio-engineering, Biotechnology, CSE with specialization in Bioinformatics, and ECE with specialization in Biomedical Engineering.
- VIT also accepts JEE Main scores and SAT scores for B.Tech admission. Students can submit valid JEE Main scores for admission.
Certificate Requirements for Admission
Candidates must provide SC/ST certificates during admission. Candidates from Jammu and Kashmir and the North-Eastern states must fill a Certificate to Prove Nativity.
- North-Eastern states include Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, and Tripura.
- If candidates fail to provide the community or nativity certificate at the time of admission, the decision taken by the institute regarding admission will be considered final.
VITEEE 2026 Eligibility Criteria for NRI and Foreign Students
NRI candidates must also fulfill the eligibility criteria to get admission to VIT. The categories are divided into NRI and Foreign.

VITEEE 2026 Eligibility Criteria – Additional Information
Documents are required for filling up the VITEEE application form. The application form must be submitted with the correct documents.
- Soft copy or scanned copy of a recently taken passport size colored photograph.
- The photograph size should be between 50 KB – 100 KB with dimensions of 3.5 cm * 4.5 cm.
- Soft copy or scanned copy of the candidate's signature with 20 KB – 50 KB size and dimensions of 3.5 cm * 1.5 cm in JPG/JPEG format.

How many people took VITEEE in 2024?
More than 2 Lakh students appeared for VITEEE 2024. The exam is scheduled to be held in 120 test cities across India and 4 international cities: Dubai, Muscat, Qatar, Kuwait, Singapore, and Malaysia.
VITEEE is conducted in computer-based mode in the English language only. The duration of the exam is 2 hours 30 minutes, and one mark is awarded for every correct answer.
Is there any dress code for VITEEE 2026?
No, there is no dress code to be followed while appearing for the exam. All details related to the exam center, exam timings, and other rules will be mentioned in the admit card.
VITEEE 2026 is an online entrance exam with four sections: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and English. Candidates going for B.Tech Biotechnology have to opt for Biology instead of Mathematics.
Can only Indian nationals apply for VITEEE 2026?
Candidates who are residents of India will be able to apply for VITEEE 2026. Non-residents of India will be eligible for the examination and admission process.
