Andhra Pradesh Engineering Common Entrance Test Eligibility Criteria
AP ECET 2024 Eligibility
Indian nationals who meet the local or non-local status requirements set by the Andhra Pradesh Educational Institutions can apply for AP ECET 2024. Registration is expected to start on the official portal, and candidates can apply online at sche.ap.gov.in.
The exam is conducted by Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU) Anantapur every year. It offers admission to the 2nd-year level through Lateral Entry into Engineering and Pharmacy courses for Diploma holders in Engineering and Technology and B.Sc. (Mathematics) graduates.

- The exam is expected to be conducted in the third week of June 2024 in CBT mode.
- The application form is expected to be released in the first week of May 2024.
- Candidates can download their hall ticket a week before the exam.
General Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must meet the following general requirements to appear for AP ECET 2024.
Nationality: Candidates must be of Indian nationality.
Domicile: Candidates must belong to the state of Andhra Pradesh and satisfy the local or non-local status requirements.
Meaning of Local and Non-Local Status
Local candidates: A candidate is considered local if any of the following conditions apply:
- The candidate has studied in the state for four years of continuous academic qualifications, or
- The candidate has studied in any institution in the state of Andhra Pradesh for seven years, or
- The candidate has been residing in the state of Andhra Pradesh for four years.
Non-Local candidates: A non-local candidate is eligible for admission to the 15% reserved seats. A candidate is considered non-local if any of the following conditions apply:
- The candidate has resided in the state for 10 years, excluding periods of study outside the state, or
- The candidate's parents have resided in the state for a period of ten years, excluding periods of employment outside the state, or
- The candidate's parents are employed in the State or Central Government, Public Sector Corporations, Local Bodies, Universities, or any other quasi-public institutions within the state.
Academic Qualifications
Candidates appearing for the AP ECET exam must obtain a diploma in the respective courses for admission to B.E/B.Tech and B.Pharma.
- B.E/B.Tech: Candidates must have obtained a diploma in Engineering and Technology or any other equivalent diploma from an AICTE approved and Government of Andhra Pradesh recognized institution, OR a 3-year B.Sc degree with mathematics as one of the subjects from a recognized university.
- B.Pharma: Candidates must have obtained a diploma in Pharmacy or any other diploma from an AICTE approved and Government of Andhra Pradesh recognized institution as equivalent for admission to B.Pharma. B.Sc degree holders are not eligible for admission to B.Pharma.
Appearing Students and Required Marks
Candidates who are pursuing a diploma course are eligible to apply, provided they complete and pass all exams of the diploma before the time of admission into the college.

Lateral Admission into B.E/B.Tech/B.Pharma
- Candidates must have appeared and qualified in AP ECET 2024, along with satisfying the eligibility and other criteria laid down in the admission rules.
- Admission to 85% of the seats in each course is reserved for local candidates, and the remaining 15% is kept unreserved.
- Admission to B.Sc (Mathematics) degree holders is given only after exhausting all qualified diploma holders.
