MP DTE Counselling 2026: Eligibility Criteria

Academic Qualification

- MP Domicile candidates: 90% of all seats are for MP domicile holders. You need a Format-6 Local Residence Certificate or equivalent valid domicile proof.
- Non-MP (All India) candidates: 5% of seats in government colleges are available under the All India quota. Some private colleges also allow up to 25% of their seats for non-MP candidates.
- NRI/PIO/OCI/CIWGC candidates: A separate supernumerary NRI quota exists in most private colleges, and registration under this quota is free of charge.
Entrance Exam Score Requirement
- A valid JEE Main 2026 All India Rank is mandatory for B.E./B.Tech admissions in Round 1 and Round 2. You must have a positive composite score.
- Candidates without JEE Main scores can apply under the Qualifying Examination (QE) / Class 12 merit route only after the main rounds are complete. This route covers remaining vacant seats, and its registration deadline is July 18, 2026.

How the Choice Filling Algorithm Works
- There is no fixed upper limit on the number of choices. Most counselling experts recommend filling at least 15 to 20 preferences, and more is always better.
- The system uses a Best Fit algorithm: it processes candidates in merit rank order and assigns each candidate the highest-ranked available option matching their category, domicile, and rank.
- You must Lock your choices before the deadline. Saved-but-unlocked preferences default to the last saved order, but locking is essential to confirm your list for processing.
- Include a mix of government, autonomous, and private colleges across multiple cities to maximise your chance of an allotment.
Post-Allotment Choice Options
- Freeze: Accept the allotted seat and exit counselling. Your admission is confirmed at the allotted college.
- Float: Seek an upgrade to a higher-preference option while keeping your current seat as a backup. If a better option is found in Round 2, you move; if not, you retain the current allotment.
- Slide: Seek a branch upgrade within the same college only. Your college stays the same; only the branch may change if a better one is available.

MP Counselling 2026: College Level Counselling (CLC) Rounds
After Round 1 and Round 2 are complete, seats remaining vacant in private colleges are filled through College Level Counselling (CLC) rounds. CLC rounds take place directly at the college level in August 2026 and are the last opportunity to secure a seat under MP DTE Counselling 2026.
- CLC rounds are for private unaided colleges only. Government college seats that remain vacant after Round 2 are returned to the state and are not offered through CLC.
- Candidates who did not get a seat in Rounds 1 or 2, or who withdrew, can apply for CLC rounds by visiting participating colleges during the designated window.
