TS LAWCET Exam Pattern 2024

The Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TSCHE) decides the TS LAWCET exam pattern. The notification for TS LAWCET 2024 will announce the final pattern. TS LAWCET is the entrance test for admission to 3-year and 5-year LLB courses in law colleges across Telangana. The Telangana State Law Common Entrance Test 2024 (TS LAWCET 2024) is scheduled for June 3, 2024.

  • The exam is held only in online mode. There is no negative marking.
  • Candidates must answer 120 questions for 120 marks in 90 minutes.
  • The paper contains objective-type questions. These questions test a candidate's ability and aptitude for a career in Law.
  • Intermediate graduates can register for the Integrated 5-year program. Degree holders can apply for the 3-year program.

Detailed TS LAWCET 2024 Exam Pattern

Osmania University will conduct the exam on behalf of TSCHE. The paper has three sections:

Mode of TS LAWCET Exam

The law entrance examination is a Computer Based Test. Each candidate is assigned a computer at the TS LAWCET Exam Center. Test takers should practice using an 'Online Test Series'.

The examination tests the following abilities of candidates:

TS LAWCET 2024 - Duration of Exam

The exam duration is 1 hour 30 minutes. Candidates have 90 minutes to answer all 120 questions.

The TS LAWCET exam lasts for 1 hour 30 minutes (90 minutes). Candidates must finish the exam within this time.

  • No extra time is given to any candidate under any circumstances.
  • PwD and SAP candidates get an extra 20 minutes to complete the exam.
  • There is no sectional time limit for any part of the exam.

Type of Questions in TS LAWCET

The exam uses objective type questions, which are multiple choice questions. Each question has four choices, and candidates must mark the most appropriate answer.

The exam also includes one descriptive essay question.

TS LAWCET Medium of Examination

The Telangana Law Common Entrance Test is held in English and Telugu. From this year, candidates can also attempt the exam in Urdu.

Applicants can choose the medium they prefer for answering the questions.

TS LAWCET 2024 Marking Scheme

Each question in the exam carries 1 mark. A correct response awards the candidate 1 mark.

  • There is no penalty for wrong answers.
  • There is no negative marking for unattempted questions.
  • If a candidate marks two answers for one question, it is treated as a wrong answer.

Qualifying Marks in TS LAWCET

Candidates must score a minimum of 35% marks to qualify. This means the minimum passing mark is 42 out of 120.

SC and ST category candidates do not have a minimum qualifying mark for the exam.

Tie Breaker in TS LAWCET

If more than one candidate gets the same marks, the following criteria are used to break the tie:

  • Marks in Part C, Aptitude for the Study of Law, are considered first.
  • If the tie continues, marks in Part B, Current Affairs, are considered.
  • If the tie still persists, candidates with the same marks are grouped together for ranking. At the time of admission, higher age may be the deciding factor.
